Long term friendships on this board

I had my DNA checked and I thought that I was 100% Sooner.

After about two weeks I got my results back and I was shocked.....really shocked!

They said I was 95% Sooner and 5% Longhorn.

I going to go to an exorcist to rid my body of this 5% evil.

BOOMER SOONER!
IMO, bull, You should not have posted that...I'm afraid it will cause your Draft Stock to drop, considerably!

Not sure about my tree. My Mom's side had family that came over from Ireland in the late 1890s and changed their name from "O'Burns" to "Byrnes" to fit in as resentment toward the Irish was not uncommon during that time. The family moved to southern Kansas and Oklahoma to work in the oil fields and eventually settled in Sand Springs, OK. My Dad was adopted after his dad left his mother when he was six years old. All we know was his name was "Brown" and was from west Texas and moved to Lawton, OK in the late 1920s. There, met my grandmother, had my Dad and then left. She remarried and moved to Walters, OK.

Schoonerman, my g-g-greatgrandmother was "sub-human' red hair blue eye Irish just like my mother. Grandmother's spouse was Sub Saharan African-Cherokee. Study the "Trail Where They Cried" (Trail of Tears") and you'll find many Caucasians and Africans were herded from the southeast to Oklahoma. Irish were the lowest of whites. The Lumbee Indians were lower than blacks. The Cherokees. Chickasaw, Creek, Seminoles had slaves. In 2011, The Cherokee Nation voted to purge themselves of the Freedmen. I opposed. I am strong family, no matter the skin color or texture of the hair.

The best we can tell, the Irish didn't marry the African or the Indian, but jumped all over the offspring of the African and the Indian.

I have many Lumbee friends from my time in North Carolina. Kelvin Sampson is a Lumbee, as you probably well know. His features are similar to the Lumbees I know. Sampson, Oxendine, Locklear, and Barefoot were common names in the Fayetteville, Lumberton, Pembroke, etc.. areas. As you also probably know, the Lumbees are not recognized by the US government as a legitimate tribe, which speaks to your comment about their place in the hierarchy.

Oh, and my Lumbee friends cautioned me to never mess with a Croatan.

Heather Locklear's father is Lumbee and works at UCLA. The state of North Carolina recognizes the Lumbee Nation. The Eastern Band of the Cherokee and U. S. Government does not recognize the Lumbee. Elvis Presley claimed Cherokee. Historians believe Lumbee because from where his grandparents originated and surnames.

Famous Melungeons include Presley, Locklear, Ava Gardner, George C. Scott, Abraham Lincoln and Tom Hanks. My Melungeon father was not famous.

I was part of the 2005 Melungeon DNA project. I have double jointed thumbs, the Central Asian cranial ridge and Asian shovel teeth. I do not have the Anatolian bump at the back of the skull but 1 son and 6 grandchildren do.

Not to derail this great discussion but for History fans, History Channel is playing the 5 part series on the Auto in America and right now they are on part 3 where the Big 3 is devoted entirely to WW2 war production. Good stuff

It's Ross Perot's fault.

Hey, now, I was one of his campaign chairpersons! :D

And as for the Native part of this discussion, blonde hair, hazel eyes, card-carryin' Cherokee! In fact, my sister dropped some coins to find out more details & discovered that we are, in fact, descendants of a Cherokee princess. I was stunned!

Hey Babe, I hope you are doing well.

You are a princess!

For our beautiful sister sockless. I hated to break this news but I didn't want to find you making such a claim in the wrong company. I've been doing battle with the Eastern Band of the Cherokee for many years now. These cats can be unforgiving.

I know some Western Cherokees. Good people. I know few Oklahoma Cherokees.

From the Eastern Band of the Cherokee activists:
"One is all Cherokee or he is none."
"You're really just a colored guy who thinks you're an Indian." I've pretty much heard it all.

You might want to rethink that, IA. I heard she was recently arrested for domestic violence as well as either obstruction or assaulting an officer. She's bat-shit crazy, man.

I agree that she needs a lot of help; however, if she spent a day at the spa and salon, I wouldn’t mind taking her out for an evening “incognito”. Dangerous, but could be worth the risk. Just saying! :p

Please don't put any booze or pills in her unless that pill is your own.
