Lincoln Riley accomplished something today that Bob Stoops never accomplished

He lost to Iowa State. Last time OU lost to Iowa State, I was a freshman at OU, 1990.

Congrats Coach!

And I bet you were the same kind of fan who tried running Stoops out of town many times after a tough loss too. Chill out dude!

Ya Medic I heard them mention that on the radio after the game. Had no idea it had been that long.

Better add this to your pictures at bottom of your posts. Out it next to the one of Mayfield planting the OU flag:

Yeah we were all going crazy last year after two losses early. Turned out to be a pretty good season.

Not saying you tried running Stoops out of town in the past--but many OU fans tried too. Those people, such as the OP and iasooner, don't appreciate Stoops until he's gone.

I hate to be a name dropper but this is true and only worthy became of what was said after the game. My brother and I were guest of Tinker Owens that day in October 1990. Tinker and Steve were my clients and they routinely offered game tickets to venders. I was offered two for that game so I invited my brother to join me and sit with Tinker, who was and still is my friend. That day we watched OU go from a 14-0 lead to a 3 point loss because the Sooner defense couldn't stop a knee braced slow Iowa State QB, Chris Robertson, from running up the middle time after time 3rd and long. My brother called me just a few minutes ago and asked me "Do you remember what Tinker said after the game?" I do. As the OU players were walking off the field, Tinker turned to me and said, "I'd be sprinting off the field after a performance like that". Classic moment for me. I felt it again today.

Last year we played better as the year went on. That does not seem to be true of this team.

I'm usually not one for hyperbole, but this has to go down as one of worst losses in program history. Super, super disappointing.

The other Iowa State win before their 1990 win was1961

So after today thats 3 Iowa State wins vs. OU in 56 years.

Yeah, but ISU won back-to-back in ‘60 and ‘61, so it’s 4 in 57 years. And 6 in the history of the world. Sincerely sorry to hurt your NC chances, but a great win for ISU that was desperately needed. Good luck the rest of the way, guys.

The 7 straight years losing as double digit favorites leads FBS. I was hoping this tradition would end under Riley. Miserable and silly me!

Depending on the source, in 16 years, Switzer had 4 "how could this possibly happen?" losses. In 16 seasons, Stoops has 13 such losses. Stoops first such loss came in his 3rd season hosting Oklahoma State. Riley pulled his off in only his 5th game.
