Winning four straight, and especially today with back to back double headers, each of the two previous days, was a pretty special effort. To be honest, I don't think we saw that effort in the loss to NDSU. You could see the difference especially in the last three. They got after them.
In case you hadn't heard, Caliegh Clifton's tying homer in the 10th inning Sunday night, was the 3rd anniversary of her father's death. She ran away from the site, according to one report, and got back to the dressing room and balled her eyes out. She's my favorite Sooner player for a lot of reasons. I think her teammates rallied around her, and made it bearable.
That homer was critical in the season not ending, and changed the whole countenance in the dugout.
Today was more workmanlike. Paige 1 took care of business in the circle, and Nicole Mendes had more hits than any other player in the country in the regional round. She had at least two hits in every game.
