For now, I say we welcome our newest Sooner and let him recover from the traumatic experience of being an Aggie. I hope it didn't scar him for life. I wish him well.

Got to look at this as a positive.
That he wants to play for OU, that's good.
A couple of dozen showers will rid him of the Aggie taint, that's good.

The competition at QB anywhere is a good thing.
Makes everyone play better.

That Bob wants to give a kid another opportunity, good thing too.

I logged in under my retired name and posted that. (The early stages of Old-timers Disease is a bitch). I was going to re-post my thoughts, but it isn't that important. Anyway, I do wish him well. He better do well or the SoonerScoop firing squad will come after him. ;)

Murray is a special player, my son played with him in high school. The kid makes things happen. Give him a year of learning the offense under Riley and he could be a very good qb. Another plus he would have been a first round pick in the baseball draft, so maybe he will be a dual sport athlete. He was the 5th ranked SS in last years draft

So when a mega-talented, well taken care of athlete, or team, or coach significantly underperforms in the opinion of others...or as you would post, "firing squad" mentality, you don't feel it is human nature and perhaps even warranted to render a sincere critique?

I've read some of your posts where you've been critical of a poster or some other issue. Guess your advice doesn't apply to you...just others. How's that crown and throne feel?

I respect you greatly and often your opinions. Not so much in this case. FWIW.

Scrooge old boy! Have you done flipped your frustrated wig? Ain't you ever heard of the Yuletide gig?

Maybe I am Scrooge...maybe not. And, I've flipped my frustrated wig many times...too many to count. And, I've been wrong more times than that.

I'll even allow that maybe I might come across as the Grinch personified in this case to some. But, it appears to me that based on your expressed sentiments. you partake from the same tainted trough as a few other misguided Scoop posters. But then, what do I know, right?

As long as it is your opinion and all the rest of us are subservient to it, all is well with you? Far be it for another to not be in lockstep with you.

Some might assert I am fulfilling my Yuletide gig in this and the other response.

Btw, Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Fort Worth, take a deep breath. You are taking this message board stuff way too seriously. Relax, be lighthearted, and enjoy the evening and Christmas day tomorrow. Don't worry about what some poster said on SoonerScoop. As I told Fitty above, my post was not that important. Merry Christmas.

Some of you people take yourself and your opinions too seriously. Calling you a 'firing squad' due to your over-opinionated hypercritical prerogatives seem legit.

Most just enjoy watching a sport, not living our lives pegged to the performance of a bunch of 18 - 22 year old kids.

God forbid the day if someone holds you to public scrutiny (like this forum) for the way you do your job or live your life. The horror.

Coming from you, Your advice comes with great value. Thank you. I'm out on this one.

I do enjoy the Scoop as I do the Sooners. It is one of my vices. Oh well, perfection, for me, just flew out the window.;) As such, I see value in all opinions whether I'm in agreement or not.

I think it would be cool to see the Scoop grow in participation far beyond the present.

On the lighter side, I just watched an encore of the Tenn. game...OU wins again in 2 OTs!:D

My tidings of comfort and joy came from watching the replay of Clemson - ND. I am very encouraged. Up tempo offensive totally gets into the heads of the Clemson defense. They have a lot of trouble with it.

Some, instead of posting their thoughts on the Scoop, might turn to an unhealthy option such as taking out their "frustrations" on material possessions, family, pets, alcohol, road rage, etc.o_O;)

I'm just being a knucklehead with the above LTS. I'm glad you handle it in your own special way. Great outlook.

Most handle it your way but the Scoop does provide a useful function and service to those who opt for the healthy vent or the euphoric. After all, we are a diverse community.

You're right.

Were it not for the free scoop, I'm sure I'd be a serial killer...

Get in the playoffs and be a National contender and everyone is beating down your door.

Now that was THE most entertaining post I've ever read on the Scoop.

I don't usually belly laugh at a post but yours hit the spot.

Never underestimate, though, the irrational and even extreme behaviors of some. Especially, after your post a couple of days ago regarding carcass burying.;)

Thanx Ft. Worth.

It's a volume thing...you throw down five or ten thousand posts, every once in a while you get all of the bat on it and it's a tape measure home run.
You live for these moments. :D

Best to you, Merry Christmas and Happy (day after we beat Clemson) new year!

Color me skeptical about 5 star HS QBs. See Rawls, B; and Bomar, R. Give me some more 3 stars like Bradford and Mayfield. Will be interesting to see the competition with Stoops' other QB recruits. It always is entertaining.

I understand this view, Okie 70.
My hope is that, whatever star value Murray has, he can be developed and motivated by the coaches....and that he buys in on what it means to play for Oklahoma.
Above and beyond Murray's transfer, I will be curious to see if the recruitment of Kendall (2016, enrolling in January) and/or Robison (2017) will be affected. I hope not. I see quarterback depth a bit like pitching depth in baseball......there is strength in numbers. Right now, behind Mayfield, the depth at QB is very shaky. So goes Mayfield, so goes OU's chances this postseason.

In addition, there are reports that Murray has received a few negative comments from some ATM teammates, referring to a perceived sense of entitlement he brought with him to Sumlin's program. I believe that even if this is true, Stoops and his staff and his teammates can keep him grounded both on and off the field. They will have 20 months to see what Murray is all about before he sees any action.

I think Murray is a better fit in OU's Offense than A&M's. I'm told (by a less than knowledgeable source) that A&M changed up their offense to the disappointment of their top two QBs. Something happened at A&M that resulted in two QBs being allowed to transfer. I think Murray signed with OU with a sense of urgency knowing OU was entertaining signing his teammate K. Allen from Arizona. First come first served. I think we will see a similar situation with the QB kid from North Carolina arriving on campus next month. Is he a perfect fit for Riley's O? IF Murray beats him out in practice he will transfer.

Good post, Scottsdale....and that scenario is one I see happening....Kendall and Murray competing for the 2017 starting position after Mayfield leaves.
My question is, if Kendall is a pocket passer and both Murray and 2017 commit Robison are dual action QBs, will Kendall change his commitment and/or transfer, or does Lincoln Riley have plans we don't know about ? And what is Cody Thomas thinking about right now ?

I would be really surprised to see any recruiting fallout. I personally give a transfer a 1 in 50 shot of contributing. I'm not talking about JC guys.
That is why Baker Mayfield is such a fantastic story to me. Just like Jalen Saunders only a bigger impact and believe me, if Trevor had not had Jalen against the Tide....well..my opinion is Jalen ran down throws for Trevor.
I love Trevor Knight but thank God we had Saunders out there.
As far as Murray, we will see. In my personal opinion he has a big hill to climb.

I'm not sure about non-JUCO transfers having a 1 in 50 chance of contributing and I think Murray, rated by many as the top high school QB in the country in the 2015 class, might have some ability to contribute, especially after a year to learn from Riley and Mayfield.
I agree that Saunders made Knight a better QB than he was against Alabama.....but so did Shepard, Clay, Bester and even little used Robert Woods and Taylor McNamara who had clutch receptions. The next year, all were gone except for Shepard, who missed the last half of the season. Had Knight (or any OU QB in history) faced Alabama with the 2014 receiving corps and without RB Brennen Clay, OU would not have come close to beating Alabama.

Murray will be a redshirt soph. Kendall will redshirt. Murr

Cody Thomas, like Murray is a dual sport athlete, that has a career in baseball. Would like to see both of them on the diamond in the spring. Murray could even be a great slot WR.

God is a big football fan and she wants Thomas and Murray to focus on football at OU.

CT I have no argument on your points. The fact that Brennan Clay was a senior with football smarts, McNamara and his catch, and Bester played well are all good points.
Typically, I think a coach has to ground a transfer with realistic expectations. Hopefully Murray contributes and wouldn't that be awesome!
As for the Tide. We have played the Tide 3 times in the Stoops Era and won all 3.
Bring it.

What's our total record against Alabama? I think we have one tie?

Bama has one win in 1963, something like that, one tie as you mentioned. OU has 3 wins over tide.
1963 Orange Bowl, Namath and Lee Roy Jordan led Alabama to a 17-0 win over Wilkinson's last bowl team.
I attended the 24-24 tie in the 1970 Bluebonnett Bowl in the Astrodome. OU blocked a chip shot FG with 5 seconds left to end the game. Pruitt (97 yards) and Crosswhite (111 yards) had over 200 yards between them.....with runs by Pruitt of 25 and 58 yards for TDs.
The game marked the beginning of a decade of dominance by both teams, yet they never played again until the Stoops era.
Had OU not gone on probation in 1973-75, OU and Alabama might have played against each other for the national championship....possibly twice, at the end of the 1973 and 1974 seasons. Imagine a Switzer-Bryant championship game in back-to-back seasons !

Word from my Aggie family members in Houston: Murray is a player of an entitlement persona and his exit from Sumlin's team was not a surprise or a disappointment.
Maybe.....maybe not....but as he comes on board at OU, I have to believe Stoops and his staff informed him of the pecking order and team concept at OU before he decided to transfer, as well of the great opportunity he has before him.

Well, leopards rarely change their spots and the football and baseball teams in Aggieland were all extremely glad to hear he was leaving. On Wednesday nite, KM's football teammates packed his bag and told him, "you're leaving". He hadn't even taken a practice with the BBall team and they openly despised him. Aggies don't care what you think about it, whether he is successful or not, we're just glad he is gone. Most of the damage was caused by his dad, our fine Aggie legacy. Now, says your prayers tonight little starling and pray he goes all baseball so he doesn't decimate your fine football team like he did ours.

Well, I'm sure the staff pointed out to him that we don't do prima donnas, and that he'll do the work within the 'team' concept. All positions are earned.

Otherwise he'll get jettisoned from OU too and end up at some 1-AA school wondering..."what happened?".
Bob don't play dat crap.

You're in friggin' denial man. What else is an aggie to say? The dude split on your program. He snubbed you & all things Aggie. So did your other QB. Something stinks in College Station right now... and it isn't the Corp Turds this time.
