Over OU getting commitments from FIVE 4-star commitments (and hopefully 1 5-star) in the month before NSD.

All I see is moaning over the guys we lost (Daniels and Cobb are the only ones that really count IMO).

A lot of you guys are choosing to see this class with really pessimistic eyes.

QB: 4 star top 100 HS kid. Plus former #1 QB transferring in. A+
RB: 4 star kid that is exactly what we want. A
FB/TE: Few if any offers. No real emphasis or need. N/A
WR: 4-star top 100 kid and 2 Texas 3 star kids. B+
OL: 2 national 4 stars, 2 JUCOs to provide immediate depth and one in-state HS kid with good upside. B
DL: 2 dynamic high-ceiling 4 star HS DEs. A for quality at DE, but B+ overall based on failure to sign a DT (although DT was not a big need).
LB: (with Kelly) 1 5-star and 1 4-star kid from CA and 1 underrated 3-star in-state kid, with 2 JUCOs to fill immediate needs. On paper, A- Reality with Youngquist issues, solid B. (without Kelly): C-
CB: high 4-star CA kid and 3-star East Coast kid. B+ (solid A or higher with Cobb)
S: 1 underrated 3 star (Sylvie is a 4 star IMO). Not a position of need. A-/B+
STs: 1 in-state recruited walk-on. Not a position of need. N/A

I'm just not seeing all of the gloom and doom. Could it have been better? Of course. Did it meet our needs? A resounding yes, with the only real question marks being due to Youngquist's issues and the only real downers being late flips by Cobb and Daniels. Any disappointment re Velus is more than made up for by landing Mykel and Farrar.

If we lose Kelly, then I will agree that we didn't get it done at LB (unless the JUCOs play far above their rankings), but you can't blame Kish for Youngquist's situation or for Dom inexplicably (and foolishly) declaring for the draft or for Jefferson having off field issues. He seemed to have things covered for most of the recruiting cycle.

I always viewed Cobb as a WR rather than a CB. I think Baylor may have flipped him by promising him he would be a WR there. I think he was a big loss, but signing M Jones made up for it.
