Saw former Ravens standout linebacker (some claim he's the best ever at his position--13 seasons pro bowl) on Charlie Rose last night and the guy made some very bizarre statements. (Recalling his weird pre-game antics during his pro career, why the surprise, eh?)

Claiming he was old school like Dick Butkus, Lawrence Taylor, Jack Lambert, and Mike Singletary, he said his job was to hurt opposing players who dared come into his 'zone' on the field. When asked what he meant by 'hurt' he said put the guy out of the game--end his season if not his career.

When Rose gave him some static, Lewis said "that's the price of admission to pro football" ... the expectation that some guy like him would put you out of the game, either temporarily or permanently. He claims this should be the intention and expectation of all players, noting that 300-pound linemen were trying to take his knees out all the time. He also said quarterbacks were soft little girls and running backs were, along with linebackers, the real men of football.
