Once again, the solution to this is presented as a one way street, and the solutions that view it that way are meaningless.
There is this notion, especially on the liberal left, that this is strictly a problem with white folks and that just is not the case. But because the left thinks they have the only views that matter, then meaningful discussion is unlikely to take place anytime soon.
There is the assumption that any white guy who finds problems with how black culture functions is either racist or meaningless. It's not surprising that the same crap, would include a reference to "homophobes" because in their view, if you don't line up lock step that gay is just different and gay marriage is a constitutional right then you are deserving of any name calling. It is the exact sin they are leveling when the N word is viewed as the sin so unforgivable that even your house mates who had nothing to do with the name calling deserve having a day to go find a new place to live with zero due process. The hypocrisy of that view is that these are usually the same people that would scream about the unfairness of a serial killer not receiving due process.
I do think there is a little in what the lady has to say, but very little. A teachable moment it surely was. And a calling for something besides just a hand wringing and expulsion to move on has great wisdom. But her specific teaching in the teachable moment is sorely lacking. That is not surprising.
This issue is seen exclusively as a probelm of white folks, especially mostly non liberal white folks. That is myopic. And so long as all the solutions are that way, not much progress is going to occur.
