For as long as I could remember my faith in OU football couldn't be shaken. But the last few years I just don't find myself believing they are invincible. Even with this awesome season, some doubt continues to creep into my thoughts. I'll still kick a shorthorn in the mouth, mollywop a cowboy if he acts up, but sometimes the Sooners make me scratch my head. I want to get back to thinking OU carries the water and let's others take a sip on occasion. In 2000, I was dialed in by the third games of the season and knew OU was on there way.

This season, I just can't put my finger on why I can't 100% commit to believing this team has it all together.

It's called parity.............

You're playing with house money. OU tore off a magic streak after a showstopper against Texas.

Could OU lose the next game? Yes, because it's a playoff bracket and it's a long layoff.

But be bolstered by the fact OU has like a 74% win percentage off a bye week. If the coaches and players stay focused, the fans are in for an unexpected treat after that lousy October loss.

Well, my friend...just tell yourself over and over, this squad, this coaching staff is peaking right now, and no one is superior to them in this particular time in history.

You keep to that mantra and it will serve you well, way into the middle of January.
That's the deal dude.

Enjoy the ride...it's gonna be awesome!:D

We're talking EIGHT!

Probably the high you were on after they beat Bama in the Sugar you were woke up expecting a golden stepped next season and instead dealt with the nightmare of the 2014 season and bowl..YIKES! Shocked that Bob went on vacation the week of TCU game. In total disbelief watching Mikes defense vs Baylor. I thought Bob and Mike had maybe bought a seat on the floor of the stock exchange. Ya know $5Mil per year for 17yrs, pretty soon u got some big money! Disgusted and embarrassed after the bowl stomping we received. Totally amazed when Bob fired offensive coaches and not defensive ones. Jolted when you saw how poor our O/line was this year. Really shocked at the suck journalists we have covering OU and the weak, weak questions they ask Bob or the editorials they never write. Or maybe it was something else..........

I think Bob and the buddies got comfy for a while but the Sooner Schooner got a busted wheel. Folks started complaining, not you and I but the big money donors. I think Bob saw it coming but did not want to fire his buddies but was put on the spot. He made some changes and I think it shows that he is glad he made the changes. This team and staff seem to have a swagger about them and they seem to be having fun again, the fire and desire is back and I love it! Win or lose in the playoffs it has been a great season, one that most all Sooner fans thought impossible just a few weeks ago. But this is where OU should be regularly and I hope more good things are to come our way, we are OKLAHOMA we take a backseat to nobody! Where's the tylenol? Lol

Minus 2000, I can't remember a more surprising Bob Stoops' team and season on the positive side. Lord knows, there have a few on the negative side. Regardless of what happens now, it's already been much better than 99% of us fans expected. I know it's due to the players, but I give equal credit to Bob and his staff as well. And you can't lose sight of the fact that we have been very fortunate that no major injuries have occurred. Imagine what would have happened if Baker had been lost mid-season...or a couple of OL casualties. So far everything has fallen in place, so enjoy.

I think that several other Sooner teams were much more talented than this one ..... but they didn't make it.

This team doesn't have the raw talent that many past Sooner teams have, but they seem to have a certain spark/energy that may get them to the title.

Another factor is that I don't think there is any "super-big, killer" team anywhere this year. For that reason we may the the team with what it takes to walk across the finish line.

I agree, Cal. This should be a very competitive playoff. I'll be surprised to see any big margin wins. It's anybody's chance to win a championship. I really believe a lot depends on which team(s) come ready and focused. That's why I rather play sooner than later. OU is as ready to play now as any. You never know what you will get a month after your last game.
