So I was listening to the Oklahoma Breakdown last night, and Gabe & Teddy were talking about Heupel and the Tennessee job. They mentioned how Josh is a solid coach, but that he needs to put people around him that can recruit because it isn't a strength of his. He's honest to a fault, doesn't BS you, and is a straight shooter when it comes to the process. We all know that Josh isn't exactly the most charismatic coach out there. He's just not that type of guy.

To further that point, Gabe had a quick note about Cam Newton's recruitment and his official visit to Norman. Gabe is chatting with Cam Newton at a house party, and Cam tells him that Heupel said that he would have to compete with Landry Jones, and that if he didn't win the job, the staff could find some other way to get him on the field (TE, wildcat package, etc.). WHAT!?!?

Of course, there was a sleazy uncle involved with Cam's recruitment, but it doesn't sound like Josh had a very enticing sales pitch either. WTF was he thinking? I get it, you want to be truthful with players and you can be to an extent, but holy sh!t man.... If you're Heupel, you tell that 6'5" freak he's the dude and give Landry more time to spend with Whitney for the year. You think Chizik was saying anything different than "you start day one"? Dammit!
