I was listening to Fox Sports news on the radio and one of the talking heads was giving Jones major props. I guess he came in for an injured Vick and lead Pittsburgh from a come behind victory. One of the things he said was it looked like Landry's light was coming on in his third year. Very confident. He will probably start the next game. Way to go LJ.

8 of 12, 189 yards with two passing td's, no picks. 149 Q-B ranking, whatever that means. I think he only played one half or so....

Good for him. I didn't see the game but saw (didn't hear) his post presser on ESPN. It appeared he had a good game as he was all smiles.

Although, he wore a plaid button shirt and his clip was just after Manning's post presser clip and he was all suit & tie.

Landry landed in a good spot; learning behind Big Ben (hopefully just the football stuff), as he was not ready to take over a starting spot fresh out of college. Landry always had the physical tools to play in the NFL, but could have easily been another victim of circumstance like so many talented quarterbacks who end up in the elephant graveyards of Clevland, Buffalo, Oakland and a few others.

Billy Ray is correct, or at least I've never read that Landy 'sucked'. Having said this, I've read that posts that discussed Landry. But I do think the discussion of Landry's play was used as to just to rile up posters of the board.

Save for Trevor's Bama Bowl game victory, the Sooners haven't had a better QB since the Landry days. Lndry was the best of the Heupel days. When Landry left, basically Huepel left. I still believe that M. Stoops saw Trevor lighting up his defense like Manzel did, and convinced Bob to follow suit. The Trevor Knight experiment was good with a great guy but Huepel just couldn't adjust.

Well, I guess I should have clarified...Some did say that on the pay board...quite a bit as I recall.

Mainly in live game threads in the heat of the moment.
Again, they pay there so...a longer leash.

While I agree, but IMO, it doesn't matter. I mean think about it... "paying" to post your in the moments thoughts should not differ from those who elect to not pay. It's ass backwards. I "pay" and rarely read the board because of this.

BTW, I have no idea why I pay. LOL..

Saying Landry sucks, and saying Landry sucked at a particular moment in a game thread are two different things. Landry had flaws while he was at OU. I mean the kid was a great QB, but he had plenty of "oops" moments that made you cringe. I hope a few years in the NFL under Ben has helped him immensely to improve on many of those things. He looked really sharp yesterday. I really hope he gets the start next weekend and really shines and makes a name for himself.

And a few on this board that are assuming some OU fans are wishing Landry fails in the NFL are ridiculous.

And WNAS, yes in Baker we finally have a QB that has banished into history the "I miss Landry" calls from some OU fans. Baker has really surprised me. I will say this, in the Tennesse game Baker made plays and kept plays alive with his feet that Landry could not have done when he was at OU.

Landry took plenty of critiscism on here. Maybe not saying he "sucked" but there plenty of underserved, negative remarks.

Yep, I distinctly remember even mild mannered BullMarket coming out of character in chastising Landry in his absolute, most dreadful game as our QB, remember it?

2012 K-State game in Norman.
Lost 24-19 because of two fumbles, one by Landry, one by Blake Bell.

I agree that Mayfield has mobility moreso than Landry, but no way am I annointing Mayfield as greater than Landry. Mayfield has QB'd six games for OU. Of which he lost to Texas. It's way too early to compare these two QBs yet IMO.

Although I think Mayfield dresses better for pressers.

Not saying that Baker is greater than Landry, but Baker's feet gave OU a much needed edge at the end of the Tennesse game that Landry couldn't. No doubt I don't think Baker is the pure passer that Landry was. Overall this year though with such a weak OL, Baker has a huge advantage over Landry simply because of his ability to scramble. Baker appears to make much better decisions when pressured or scrambling out of the pocket. But you are right, 6 games in is too soon to make a definitely conclusion. But after 6 games that's just what I have noticed.
