I Can't Wait For You People To Roll Into Old Rocky Top...

I'm a guy...always been a guy...and will always be a guy. As to Jalen and Alvin...well I wouldn't pose that question to either...face to face. This thing at UT is being perpetrated by a Yankee wackjob...and everyone in the state is laughing at her. My local state senator has vowed this program will soon be defunded by the Tennessee Senate.

Hey Jake,

You've been hanging around all day and got to say, you aren't a douche.
You're quite welcome here and continue to opine at least until OU makes you cry like a girl...

Carry on dude...you're alright.

Appreciate that boys...and for the record I like the Okies. My cousin's husband is a lawyer for whatever county OKC resides in. I also happen to know Marcus Dupree. I met him 7 or 8 years ago at the Walking Horse Festival in Shelbyville, TN. Nice guy who raises and shows horses. I think Barry regrets treating him the way he did.

Marcus told you about the 7,000 volt cold tub?
Actually I never talked to him about Barry. I was amazed that he was even there. Never figured him for a Walking Horse guy at all. We talked more about that than football. His problems with Switzer are well chronicled anyway. He asked for my address and sent me an autographed pic from the Fiesta Bowl.

Yep, I repeatedly stress that sage advice to everyone that I like, respect or marginally tolerate.

Never point and/or project the business end of a shotgun against your personal junk.

It could strongly impair your ability to sing tenor or bass, and it could be detrimental to your ability to sire children...

Just saying...

Ouch! That hurt. Well at least sunburnt has joined in....................

Yep, that's a new entry on my bucket list...

Smoke some righteous bud with my bud Sunburnt Indian up on Mt. Scott, (Wichita Refuge) full moon when the leaves are changing into their panoply of colors in the fall.

(my gawd, someone is full of themselves...

Yeah, I could see you doing that...........Sunburnt would have to rescue you from yourself.............

I think Barry regrets the way things played out. I know Marcus regrets leaving.

It would have been nice to see what he might have done instead of thinking of him as 'Could Have'....

Marcus was a small town boy who had such great natural ability and strength that he was never pushed. I read someplace that he never saw the practice field...he stayed in the room lifting and showed up on game night. He wasn't quite ready for Daddy Barry.

You're almost alright for a Volunteer...

Did you attend the game in Norman last year?

I do have to give your state props...out of all the US States I have seen, and thanks to a career in the USAF, I've seen about 43 out of 50, your state may have been the most beautiful I have seen to date...I was moving from Seymour-Johnson AFB, NC to SW Texas in 2005 and got to drive through Tennessee via I-40. East Tennessee, in the Smokey Mountain area might be the most beautiful area I have ever seen - maybe because it was late Fall, but the trees and terrain and mountains were absolutely captivating. I've always wanted to go back for a vacation and do nothing but sit, drink, think, and look.

Next time you are in Tennessee travel I 24 from Nashville to Chattanooga...get off on state route 28 and travel north through the Sequatchie Valley to Dunlap, TN...if you are an atheist you won't be after you make that drive. No did not come to Norman...but I will be in Knoxville this year. Come by Calhoun's for some ribs and a free brew.

I am gonna leave you good folks for a bit...however I will give you this. I have talked to many UT fans who have traveled to away games from Florida to Eugene, OR and everyone of them have said the same thing...the finest and most knowledgeable fans found anywhere are found in South Bend, IN and Norman, OK...and they were also the most hospitable.

Pig Howard WR was suspended for the opener against BG...he will be back for the Okies. Preston Williams WR was ruled eligible to play earlier in the week. Not sure about the d-backs. Will need to check on that.
We lost two key players in the defensive backfield. It was a strength. Now especially against teams that spread it out where you need to play a nickel or dime package they will have to get more creative. The big question mark however is UT's Oline. As a team we are much more talented than we have been but still very young (very large number of sophomores and freshman playing). Next year has always been the year when we're destined to truly be competitive with the best for an entire season (when last years big frosh class are juniors). This year however I think there will be discernible improvement. It should be a good game and great atmosphere. UT does have two future NFL players in the backfield behind a Oline however that is a question mark. Also our Dline looks to be improved. Everyone is excited because we are definitely making strides in the right direction.

Yep, that dust bowl/depression thing humbled up our little ole ancestors and made them tough and appreciative. It's in our DNA.

This guy has so much charisma is scary. The thing I see with Stoops now is he is getting to where Fulmer was...and that isn't a good place for you guys to be.

Jake, Jake....how has it been for the Vols since Fulmer has been gone? He won a natty and had great teams. He even beat the Tide for several years in a roll...like 7 or 8. He didn't go stupid did he? But I digress, we hear what you are saying by many here in Sooner land.

I admit it....I've sometimes wondered if what we are seeing with Bob Stoops is the start of what will continue down the road that coaches like Fulmer or Bobby Bowden did, or if he can reverse the slide and make another run. Only time will tell....

Okie my friend...go back and check Fulmer's record from 2002-2008...it was not HOF worthy. He got lazy and someone who says they love UT and played there should have NEVER let the program disintegrate like it did. Butch will not sit on his ass.

I thought maybe he was calling out somebody on WWE. Looks like one of those screamers.
Jake,

Welcome to the OU board. If your coach does turn TN around....do you think he will be fair game for some large program to pick off like USC did to your coach a few years ago? Coaches that turn programs around....if he does....usually are picked over by the the big boys when they need a coach. USC has had some recent problems with their coach....do you think they would try to do it again? Kind of a crappy practice but that is big time sports these days.

Jake, you would know better than I. But it is not easy to find a great coach. How many have you had since Fulmer. Like I said, I'm not an expert on Vols coaching but I do know that finding the right guy is shit house luck based on what we had to endure before we lucked upon Bob Stoops. Sooner or later, they all get a little complacent but IF they are worth their salt, they will man up and get back to whatever they were. Barry Switzer had his bad years only to come back and win another national championship. We are banking on Stoops to do the same thing here at Oklahoma. I do hope that Butch Jones can revive the Vols again, but if he does, others schools will be prodding him to jump. That just goes with the territory. BTW, by bud in Johnson City thinks Jones is the second coming, too. Good luck this season, but I have to root against you on September 12 and October 24. Other than those, win'em all.

Same here as far as the Sooners go. When Butch gets it back and when others come calling you can bet we will keep him. Big Jim Haslam has enough dough to throw it around. UT is, after all, a Top Ten program in all time wins and our facilities would rival those of ancient Rome...Butch will be more than taken care of.

As I told my new friend Oklahoma we have the donors to keep Butch happy. Big Jim Haslam(Browns owner and Pilot Oil) and Thunder Thornton(Thornton Oil) will see he stays around. Kiffin left for USC because he was a west coast boy as was his wife. It was his dream job...I for one don't blame him for leaving...just the way he left. People at UT weren't mad at him for not winning because had he stayed the program would not have been where it was under Dooley. Now Derek Dooley...no person in college football history other than Gerry Faust at ND was less prepared to be a head coach at a major school...and mucho gracious for the warm welcome. I don't throw trash in someone else's living room...be certain of that.

Well I didn't know the circumstances of Kiffin leaving. I was just aware that USC came in and picked him off....and the best I remember he hadn't been there long. Things like that happen when a coach gets hot big schools start looking at them and I didn't know if that was a concern again form TN fans. I take it the big donors you mentioned didn't want to keep Kiffin. I don't know the professional abilities of Kiffin but from what I saw of him at USC, TN didn't lose a lot. With USC hitting a few bumps with their current coach...if you want to call it that....I was just wondering if TN fans might be nervous again since it appears that Jones is doing a pretty good job. Thanks for your response.

You are welcome...and I was reading my message and it seems I made a bit of a typo when I said Kiffin was a west coast boy and so was his wife...didn't structure the sentence...if you ever saw Layla Kiffin you would realize she is anything but a west coast "boy". I think more tears were shed on Rocky Top when she left that there were tears shed for her hubby leaving. I don't think money entered into Lane's decision at all because UT would have matched and gone beyond SC's offer. Kif took a 5-7 team with a shaky qb and turned it into a 7-6 team...and things were only going to get better. That is why I don't blame him for leaving...it was the only job he would have left us for.
