How does USC finish ahead of OU?

Nope. 11-2 and a conference championship is not 5-7 and no bowl. Top 5 finishes are better than being #11 as well.
I would agree Captain Obvious. My point is when your team has the pedigree of OU the difference between finishing 3rd or 5th and/or being rated behind a 3 loss (overrated) USC team is not worth losing sleep over. When OU loses a National Championship game it hurts and I wonder how they could have somehow won. When they win/lose a bowl game, without having a chance to win a National Championship, I wonder how they can improve the next year and could care less where they finish in the top 10.

Is it? I remember reading once that some coaches have a designated person to more or less make the picks for the coach, then the coach just signs off on it. I've always wondered too how much time during the season do the coaches REALLY spend watching all other games to make a truly knowledgeable decision?? Coaches have a full plate during the season, and hard to think they sit around watching dozens of games to really make a legit Top 25 each week.
I believe I remember reading they have their SID cast their votes; this information has been flushed out several times with odd coaches' votes if memory serves.

So being ranked #3/5 is as good being 4-8 with John Blake at the helm... okay...

Hi apple meet orange. Comparing a year where OU finishes in the top ten to a year when the Blake abortion happened is not an effective argument. Stating that as an OU fan I do not lose sleep over where OU finishes in the top ten, during a non -National Championship year, is different than a 4-8 year is o_ _ _ _ _ _.

Which apple are you eating today?

Lots of good arguments here but a top 5 finish is a big deal in recruiting. We gotta find a way to win next year at Ohio State. Those games matter not only for next year and potential playoff hopes but for recruiting purposes as well. Big time national tv wins are the difference between playing 11 AM games on FS1 and prime time ABC games. It's just a better selling point to a 18 year old kid and exposure for the program in general. It is what it is but I would rather finish top 5 (or 3 depending on the poll) than finishing 8-5 and #19. Only one team can win it all but everyone is jockeying for the next year and trying to find a way to hold up that trophy.

Was that you on lead flooglehorn V ? Man those girls were more violent than some of our former players...

That's the late, great Harry James on trumpet..... and that's his orchestra, as well. He gained his fame as Benny Goodman's lead trumpet player and that mean solo on "Sing, Sing, Sing".......... along with Gene Krupa on the drums.
