SCOOPHD Postgame: Iowa State

* Hear from Oklahoma head coach Lon Kruger, and players Buddy Hield, Jordan Woodard & Ryan Spangler following the Sooners 87-83 victory over Iowa State to stay unbeaten, setting up a much anticipated Big Monday showdown in Lawrence.

* 12-0 start matches the best start in school history

* Five Sooners scored in double figures for the third time this season (also against Central Arkansas [seven players] and Villanova). At least three Sooners have scored in double figures in 11 of 12 games on the year.

* OU finished 11 for 29 from 3-point range on the night, marking the seventh game already this season the Sooners have made at least 10 treys. In 35 games last year, OU registered seven games of double-digit 3-pointers.

* Saturday night marked the third straight regular season game between the Sooners and Cyclones in which the road team held a double-digit lead only to lose.

Buddy Hield note ...

* Hield moved into ninth place tonight (passed Eduardo Najera) on OU’s career scoring list with 1,662 points. Hield also tied Hollis Price for third place on the Sooners’ career 3-pointers list (241).

Ryan Spangler note ...

* Spangler finished with a season-high-tying 20 points to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds. It was his fifth career game (second this season) of at least 20 points and 10 boards ...

Spangler told reporters his absence early in the second half came after banging knees with an Iowa State player. I actually got a decent shot of it and he did indeed bang knees with Matt Thomas. I can post it later. Spangler said he retreated to the tunnel and 'stretched it out' quickly before returning to the game. Added, they'll continue to stretch it the next 48-hours before heading north.

(alright, not that great of a shot ... but when else have got the chance to look through an NCAA ref's 5-hole? You're welcome.)

They said it ...

Iowa State Georges Niang on Oklahoma:

"“They don’t compare to anybody. They have so many guys that can shoot the ball, and that can get into gaps. They’re a unique team with a great coach. So with that I would say that nobody we’ve seen so far plays like Oklahoma.”

Lon Kruger on Lloyd Noble Center:

"Fantastic. I thought it was great. Our guys talked about it in locker room, the energy they felt."
