Gymnastics: Sooner men go three peat.431.950 Ohio St 2nd. Illinois 3rd

They still haven't posted third rotation scores, but OU killed it on rings. All the scores were in the 14's. Yul was over 14.9. They might be over 73 for the event, which ought to put them in the lead. The only tv broadcast is a solo camera on each event, so you can't see what anyone else is doing, untill their scores post. But that was a solid rotation for the Sooners. Likely to be leading after three.

We're starting the fifth rotation, and they official NCAA site still hasn't posted the scores for any team from the third, much less the fourth.OU's rotation includes a couple of guys who are in individual competitions, but whose team didn't make it. Sooners start five in about five minutes.\

They had one vaulter slide because the landing pad moved, but his difficulty helped him in the high 13s and the team scored over 73 I believe, so the Sooners are in first place, unofficially.

NCAA scoring still not showing up, but found a picture at the meet.

OU 362.000
Ohio State 351.750
Illinois 351.600
Stanford 351.300
Nebraska and Minnesota in the 340's. I PBars, Vault and especially Rings, they hit 13 of 15 routines and are comfortably leading.

The Sooners faltered a little, but scored 431.950
Ohio State 2nd 423.700
Illinois improved greatly over the season 3rd 422.100
Stanford 4th 421.500

Despite a rocky start and trailing after two events, the Sooners poured it on at the end and won pretty easily, although Ohio State made up ground in the last rotation.

Maybe this is the year...

It's awesome that we have dynasties going in several sports and we're a 'football school'

Joe hired two great gymnastics coaches. The thing about the men's side, there are only like 16 D1 schools that have a scholarship gymnastics team. So it's not quite the same task as the ladies. But both coaches are terrific. Three straight for the guys. Three of four for the women. And Patty coaches one of only three schools in the country with at least three national titles. All with a different pitching rotation.

It wasn't a great overall performance for the men today. But when it got tense in the third rotation, they kicked it up a level.
