Yeah I saw that when I double checked the box score about four for five.
I'm watching game two right now replayed on LHN. Self just got called out on a bad call at first. But in these softball games, there seems to be more than a little home field advantage just about everywhere when it comes to officiating. I've seen it in Norman too.
Still they pulled it out. But they had to use Parker for about 110 pitches in game one and to get seven outs in game two. That could take a toll down the road.
Shelby did a nice job in the circle. But they know that when it's crunch time, they want Parker with the ball. The defense has really been firmed up by the return of the Aussie.
The one thing I'd like to see Coach Gasso do, is move Parker down to six or seven in the batting order. She is quite slow afoot. They even ran for her the first time she got in in game one. It means that when they get to the last three innings, if they have already run for her, if she's pitching, she has to run the bases. When it gets hot, that could be a factor, because she is going to throw a lot of innings when winning is necessary to keep playing.
Lower in the order, it mess running for her less, and less likely to need a runner in late innings of a tight game. Because they cannot run for her more than once. It's part of why she's the DP even when she's not pitching, because you can only re-enter starters. So if they had somebody else bat as the DP, then she came into pitch late, they couldn't run for her at all.
I'll have to say this about LHN. They are showing OU softball a whole lot of love so far in the two broadcasts. But I don't think you'll be seeing many replays of OU wins game three of any of the games.
If you're up late and reading this and quickly put on LHN, you can see Lauren's number 89. BUt hurry.
