That one call of Lauren may have changed the entire game. With the bases loaded and a 2-0 count, Osorio threw a high inside pitch, rise ball? It was clearly inside (Later got the same call on Casey), probably high. They called it a strike. It seemed to get to Lauren. She swung badly at the next two. Had that been called correctly as a ball, either Lauren gets a 3--0 pitch to hit or walks. With Osorio a bit wild in that inning, if she walks,, Shelby probably has a good shot at either getting a pitch to hit or walking in the tying run. One bad call hurt.
Actually, I thought the home plate umpire gave Osorio a bit too much of the corner, especially on left-handers. Some of those pitches were clearly outside, and they kept putting our hitters in an 0-1 hole. I'll be glad to change umpires.
Both pitchers threw two-hitters. In tight games, home runs matter. Same happened at LSU--a one-pitch loss on a two-hitter.
