a good DT can also be measured by how many tackles the MLB has. They eat up two blocks allowing the linebackers to run free.
NFL scouts are taking note and many saying he's moving into the Top 40 of the draft due to these practices. I believe what you're saying, but obviously one on one performance isn't a red herring if NFL scouts know their job.

Why is that infuriating? The defense had 10 other guys on every play. It's hard to look like a superstar when others on your team are content with looking like suckastars.
More reason why I prefer a true 4 man front. As in 2 DTs and 2 DEs. There's a lot of collegiate level guys that don't stand a chance in hell of turning out in the NFL but can be all conference guys in the right scheme. Austin English, Jeremy Beal and Chuka Ndulue immediately come to mind. Gallimore at a 3 technique in a 4 lineman front would have been a freak. We had the depth for it as well with Overton and Faamatu. Add in K9s speed and we could have wreaked havoc implementing nickel and even dime packages. Asking a 240 linebacker (at best) to hold the edge is bonkers.

Seen a few mock drafts earlier in the year that already had him in the 1st round. He's got the talent. Just another wasted Sooner defender of the Mike Stoops era.

I don't buy into the "only as strong as the weakest" idea, myself. I think you need 1 impact DL, 1 impact LB, and 1 impact secondary guy and the rest will fall into line. Happens in every sport. If Gallimore is truly a 1st Round DL and KMurray a 1st Round LB, then we should have had plenty of business on defense to put up some fight in the 2nd half of the season.
Dallas might be a player. They currently only have one DT under contract. Unless things change, Gallimore is showing as a late rounder. So at 17 he might be a stretch. Their 2nd pick is #52 and I don't think he'll be around at 52. They could trade down and still get him and gain a draft pick... but they also have needs at Safety. It'll be interesting to see where he goes. He's going to be cashing checks for awhile wherever he goes.
