So early on, it really is just connecting the dots. Finding guys with connection to the current staff, etc.Originally posted by Oklabama:
Not a knock, but where does Josh come up with a list of potential candidates? I've always wondered how that happens so quickly knowing that Bob Stoops is so secretive. But I like the Domer candidate.
Pusherman, thanks for posting this up on the free board. Interesting look at some of the potential names out there.Originally posted by Josh_M:

So, you hired a guy Les Miles demoted to an Intern on his staff, once Chavis bolted to the aggies.
OU will interview many DL coaches. They interviewed 5 OCs before hiring Lincoln Riley.Originally posted by utisdabomb12:

1) You might want to do some research on why he was demoted to an intern on Les Miles' staff.
2) You do realize that OU interviewed Haley and wanted him on OU's staff?

It was just an interview.Originally posted by madcow12:

Former Brick Haley confirmed to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune via text Friday that he has interviewed for the same openings at Texas and Oklahoma.
Haley, 48, is currently an administrative assistant at LSU. He has interviewed with Oklahoma, which lost defensive line coach Jerry Montgomery to the Green Bay Packers shortly after Montgomery was promoted to co-defensive coordinator of the Sooners.
The Texas job opened up last week when Chris Rumph left the Longhorns to join Jim McElwain at Florida. Rumph and McElwain coached together at Alabama previously.
Last month, LSU hired Ed Orgeron to coach the defensive line and moved Haley into his current role. Haley has been the Tigers' defensive line coach since 2009 when he joined defensive coordinator John Chavis at LSU. Chavis left for the defensive coordinator job at Texas A&M two days after the Tigers 31-28 loss to Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl.
Rushed to interview him?Originally posted by utisdabomb12:

Oh yes, OU rushed to interview Haley almost immediately after Montgomery left for the NFL because they didn't want him.
I would never hire him at OU after Les Miles demoted him, calling him in the press an Intern.
You do realize that Haley and Chavis were boys, and when the fallout happened with Chavis there was also fallout with Haley? Haley was demoted because of the crap that went down with Chavis not his performance on the field/recruiting.
I'll repeat, sour grapes don't suit you.

If OU hires a 4-3 DL coach to scheme a 3-4, then OU is in more trouble on defense than thought.Originally posted by utisdabomb12:
Oh yes, coaches aren't flexible. I mean coaches never adjust at all.

like I said, glad you guys didn't want him
John Chavis didn't want him at a&m either for some odd reason. I guess he believes a&m recruits itself.Originally posted by madcow12:

John Chavis said this about Brick Haley in 2013: "There's not a better recruiter." Now they get to battle each other.

Valid questions with no answers from you:Originally posted by madcow12:
lol..u keep trying to justify it, but you look like a fool. A&M wanted him they just did not have any more coaching positions. Get it...they were maxed out on staff, They would have had to fire somebody else. The fact bob took time to interview him proves he had was a desirable hire. You should worry less about this guy and more about why yours left to watch film at the packers.
Dude..u are the absolute worst at this. Please stop, you are embarrassing yourself noob......validating parking...wtf ? wow..yea, u are bad at this.Originally posted by JMISASANO:

1) John Chavis is the new DC at a&m, so why couldn't he bring his guy Haley, if he was so important to his success? (Sumlin's coaching attrition rate is well known, so what's one more guy?) LSU did not want him to leave. they had just lost chavis. Plus they are at max with coaches.
2) Why didn't Les Miles want him on his staff without John Chavis? Orgeron brought his own guy in.
3) Why didn't Florida want him as a DL coach over Rumph? Rumph and the HC at florid were coaches and good friends from bama
4) Why did Les Miles call him a new Intern in a national press conference? because he cannot count against the numbers on the coaching staff. They are full.
Now, go validate your parking stickers elsewhere until you have the answers to those questions.
Using your logic, Brick Haley would still be the DL coach at LSU. a&m was full with no need to add coaches even though John Chavis and Brick Haley were a great combo. They had a long history of coaching together and John Chavis was his DL position coach at Alabama A&M.Originally posted by madcow12:

Embarrassing is a horn trying to pimp a guy LSU didn't want on their staff. You made the statement, "Orgeron brought in his own guy". Are you truly that misinformed all the time?
Les Miles and new DC Kevin Steele hired Ed Orgeron as the new DL coach without any prior relationship. [/B]
