Final Playoff Prediction

How long do you think it will be before they go up to eight teams? Iowa absolutely deserves to be in the playoffs.

They go to eight and #9 will be bitching. I really don't have an answer. Baylor and TCU are so wounded at the end of the year. We need to cut it off somewhere, just for the health of the teams..............JMO

I think Bama will be a tough matchup for OU. Alabama has an excellent front seven and Baker Mayfield isn't that great of a qb unless he has his running game going for him.

Well, we have an excellent running game and our front 7 isn't chopped liver. Florida had an excellent defense front. They didn't have our depth.

Henry had 189 yards on 44 carries....4.2 yards. If we hold him to that or less we win hands down............Perine and Mixon averaged over 9 yards the past few games............. Heck I think Baker averaged around 5 per carry............

I don't know about that.
Baker is a great QB because he has two NFL caliber RBs to bring in the LBs and safeties to throw to Shep and the others.

It's not that hard with the resources we have to game plan for the foes we might face.

We have some stroke to deal with too.

We are pretty good, all things considered.

And that is the problem. What will become of Mayfield when those running backs aren't able to move the ball consistently against the Alabama D.

I say OU falls to 4 just so the talking heads can at least punish the big 12 for not having a Conf Championship Game because they cannot justify moving us out of the 4 team playoff. If Stanford had only one loss, you bet your last viagra they probably would bump us out after their win today. And Mark May, is just a smug jerk like he always is. Anyone else see his rant about the big12 not having a CCG today?

Remember #1 Nebraska, #2 Oklahoma, #3 Colorado. The best teams don't necessary win their conference. 8 teams would be more interesting, and some years, more fair. There will always be a #5 or #9 to bitch. So what? It's never been 100% fool proof. Any reason to extend the college football season and help OU with a chance to win a natty is good for me. Just my opinion, mind you.

OU will get jumped by Sparty, and in my opinion, rightfully so since B12 doesn't have a CCG. I don't think OU is being punished, but having that extra game does make a big difference in the polls, computers and to the CFP committee. I remember thinking what a load of b.s. it was when there were CCG games for everyone except the Big 10. Now the shoe is on the other foot and it sucks that not have a CCG game anymore and it will cause OU to get passed over and moved to #4.

Had OU gone undefeated, different story. We'd be #2 and headed to Arlington. But it is what it is and although I would rather see OU in Arlington, a trip to Miami vs. Clemson might not bee too bad!

I know one thing, Baker won't miss those wide open receivers the way Florida QB did.

I think Florida might have won that game if they had their original QB. Bama is a good defense but I think we will have a lot of success. On the defensive side of the ball, we are going to make Coker beat us and I don't think he is capable of it. He threw the ball up for grabs several times yesterday and simply got lucky. Not impressed

I'm a Bama fan and I believe OU would be a tough matchup because of Mayfield's ability to extend plays and those receivers. This years Bama defense is is deep with freakish athletes to chase him around. I don't know if they could contain him but I think it would be a hell of a game.

However, the committee may move MSU to # 3 because they played a Championship game. I was impressed with them last night and I think they will be a handful for anyone regardless.

OU gets jumped but not because they are being punished for not having a CCG. I think Bama and OU are the two best teams out of that four and is the matchup the committee wants for the CG.

Iowa does not deserve to be in, they lost to the only decent team they played all year.

They didn't win their conference. How do they "absolutely deserve" to be in the playoffs?

I'm reminded of our CCG loss when I read this. We still advanced. I agree that it should be an 8 team playoff. Iowa has a good team and if is was a 8 team playoff, they'd be playing. But it isn't. You play by what is current, with rules, systems, and format. As such, this is why OU advanced that year and why Iowa is not deserving this year.

Would Mark May be saying the same thing if Notre Dame only had one loss and still a viable candidate for the final four. Doubt it! That's an ESPN agenda talking down the BIG12. However, if the BIG12 Champion was a one loss team and it happened to be Texas, they would be talking up Texas, as ESPN has a tie-in with the Longhorn Network. ESPN has very little credibility with me and the talking heads are often so wrong.

I was pulling for Iowa. The coach is off the Hayden Fry tree also. Eight would be great but I doubt they change it. The big 12 should seek an extra regular season game before conference play begins. One of those scrub teams the SEC scheduled for late season. Shut up this complaint about not playing as many games as other conference winners. The big 12 could be decided the same week as other conferences.

The most ignorant thing is OU certainly DID play a championship game...we beat two of the best on the road....you could say the pokes game was in fact THE conference championship and the Sooners clearly won it. So stf up media...you have shallow and empty minds...

OU played exactly the same number of conference games as Clemson, Alabama, and Michigan State.

The Sooners played only 3 non-conference games, and the others all played 4. Not only that, OU is the only playoff team that played every conference opponent. Clemson, Alabama, and Michigan did not play 5 conference opponents each. Some advantage for OU, right?

Yes an advantage of the OU Defense playing Top 20 offenses too...we should be quite ready for shutting down Clemson and then Bama/Mich State.

Sooners played 5 (Tulsa, Texas Tech, Baylor, TCU, OSU)
Clemson played 1 (North Carolina)
Alabama played 1 (Ole Miss)
Michigan State played 2 (Oregon & Indiana)
