Was sent this below. Inserted (OU) in a few spots instead of “we,” etc.

The facts and stats here are somewhat mind boggling in that it really puts how just an avg offense would have won 9 or 10 games in 2024.

Regardless, OU was 6-7. There is no excuse for that.

I read this verbatim on the podcast/live last night, but still wanted to make sure you all saw this as well.

Again, this doesn’t change the issues at hand. However, it does show hope that John Mateer and Ben Arbuckle can help OU in 2025 if they are avg at best with the defense Oklahoma has on paper for 2025.

Here is the message/stats I was sent by a high up source:

“Was sent this from the Head of Sports Source Analytics…

(OU) finished 8th in defensive efficiency and 17th in Special Teams efficiency.

Only two teams in college FB are currently ranked better than (OU) in both Defense and Special Teams efficiency: Ohio State and Notre Dame. They’re probably going to play each other in the national championship.

(OU) finished 101st in offensive efficiency.

If you keep (OU) defense and ST Efficiency the same, and change our offense to FBS average, (OU) finishes 18th in team efficiency — that’s similar to SMU, South Carolina and Clemson.

(OU) only would have needed a top 35 offense to finish in the top 12 of team efficiency.”

*** And again, I changed “we” “us” “our” to “(OU).”

Just thought it would be a good talking point for you all today. Love to hear some thoughts from the members here.

Remember, I’m just the messenger. I find the facts interesting, to say the least. I also try and be logical about things. That said, 6-7 is 6-7. But it does make you wonder what a few less injuries on the OL and WR help OU to be in 2024, along with being more intrigued to the potential of 2025. All despite the ridiculous schedule an SEC computer “randomly” put out for 2024 and 2025 for OU.
