Update 728 PM:

Sounds like the fear I spoke about with A&M in original update that talked about below is transpiring. Here is what I said:

But even with OUInsider hearing positive things in terms of how things are trending for OU, we also continue to hear that A&M is pushing hard for Hatton and their NIL could cause an issue if Oklahoma doesn’t play their cards correctly down the stretch. And all of that makes sense, with A&M being the program that seemed to cause Hatton’s decommitment from OU this past fall.

This is why I don’t put picks/FC’s in often. It’s hard predicting when last second big money can change the game quickly.

Sources up until today were telling OUInsider that Oklahoma was being told they were in more than a good spot with Hatton. But as noted above, the same sources told OUInsider, “A&M has deep, deep pockets. Still, (OU) feels really good about Hatton. Just never know how the NIL part will go and that is going to be the biggest issue.”

That last part is ringing true, unfortunately. And I have put a pick in for A&M now.

I will say that regardless of how this turns out, I will take the L if OU somehow comes back and makes a strong play here.

I just think that OU values the RB position like the NFL. If it’s an ELITE guy that is a game-changer, they would pay 5-star/1st round money for them. However, with how RB is used these days, you just can’t pay too much because the output and production may not match the pay.

Again, this is where having NFL-type GM in Jim Nagy comes into play.

Lastly, sources did make it clear OU hasn’t waved the white flag. They will continue to recruit and pursue Hatton. We will see how it goes down the road with A&M also looking to land Rivals50 and four-star RB KJ Edwards as well.

Will Hatton want to share the backfield? Guess we will find out as this thing plays over the spring and summer.
