I don't. This whole thing is Boren "doing something." Everyone keeps going over these scenarios of what conference OU will go to if Boren doesn't get his way with Big XII expansion, but Boren will get his way, because it will be too easy for the other Big XII schools to say yes. Why? Boren already told us why; it costs practically nothing from a financial perspective for the Big XII to expand. And once the conference expands; we'll hear the old, the Big XII is here to stay, the Big XII is strong and we've got to commit to the conference to help it grow. That commitment will be some sort of agreement that will handcuff us to this sinking ship for decades.
The question is: are we going to allow that to happen. Dismiss the dream scenarios of Nebraska, Arkansas etc. those teams are never joining the Big XII. Ever. It's not going to happen. Any school that is part of a conference network (B1G Network, SEC Network, PAC Network) have grants of rights so strong they make the Big XII GoRs look silly. Those teams don't want to join the Big XII and they couldn't if they did. Anyone who is filling your heads with dreams of respectable Big XII expansion is being fed those unrealistic dreams so that the OU admin can get to the point of no return in committing long term to the Big XII, before people can stop the train, and question and protest OU's continued membership in this conference.
The current Big XII is bad for OU; it is a horrid reallocation of football legitimacy. The cache and legitimacy is being reallocated to the have nots of this conference. OU is diminishing while these 100 year futile football programs are improving as they leach off the conference socialized marketing power of two programs.
Are OU's reallignment posibilities what we'd love for them to be today? No. But one day they may be better. Don't allow Joe C. and Boren to further handcuff us to this conference, and build walls that prevent us from escaping the Big XII and joining a conference more in line with OU's place in football history. Do something to let the administration and the Regents know that you are opposed to long term commitments to this conference. We should only remain in a conference because we wish to remain In the conference, not because an administration locked us in and threw away the key. Any Conference that has to hold its members hostage to survive is not worthy of having OU as a member. Get the message out; Big XII Grants of Rights extensions are unacceptable!
