I really liked how UCF defense played all season. Erik Chinander has agreed to go to Nebraska with Frost.
OU could try to hire someone off a team of little notoriety who has a good resume and is young.
That man is out there somewhere, waiting for bigger and better things.....much like Mack Brown at Appalachian State in 1983 (hired by Switzer as OC)....or Lincoln Riley at East Carolina 3 years ago.
As an example, UTSA had a defense ranked 5th in the nation in 2017, behind such teams as Alabama, Wisconsin, Clemson, Michigan and ahead of Georgia. I would be curious to see how UTSA's DC Jason Rollins would do at a program like OU with all the facilities and resources at hand....plus he would be coming out of the state of Texas which would have to be advantageous for recruiting.
Whatever the scenario, Mike Stoops has to go. Defense has to be made more important at OU as it has been at Alabama, Georgia and Clemson.

We might have to take a chance on some up and comer, although I think McNeil gets the job. McNeil is a front 7 guy and did bring in good recruits, on the Dline. OU best defenses had a great front 7.
I think ever Coach, told every recruit that, Kish and Mike Stoops, our gone. So they had no idea who their position coach is going to be. I think that's why we missed on EVERY 4 and 5 star DB and LB. Hell the best DB in the state went to tOSU, over OU.

Arizona is apparently a lot smarter than OU. Mike only lasted a handful of seasons there before they saw what was happening
