I was wrong about the defense and you were right, my apologies. I do believe the defense is better than last year , but not by much at this point, and it appears they are regressing for any number of reasons. Two weeks off after a bad loss, and that performance is the best OU can do? I can only hide behind a"win is a win" so many times. I am proud of OU but they are not at the level I thought...yet. I will keep watching and rooting for them and hoping for another conference championship. But I could not imagine our defense going up against OSU or LSU. And our offense is the most inconsistent it has been since Coach Riley arrived; reality sucks. Never too early for some white russians...

Soldier, I do not see being right or wrong on an issue as too important when we are just talking football. Nor do I believe taking an "I knew all along" or "I told you so" stance is warranted.
All of us have shown to be right on some issues, and all of us have shown to be wrong on some issues....and I'm no exception. And in 100 years from now, who's going to care what is said on this message board ?
I prefer that our exchanges can be friendly and that we can share insights and concerns about this team. So here's to good exchanges between us. I'm looking forward to reading your opinions now.

I felt the need to apologize because of my aggressive position, and you both did turn out to be right. I could have made my points (at the time) in a more neutral manner to invite conversation. I always appreciate your balanced approach, even when I do not necessarily agree. Thank you for being you, and Boomer Sooner!

One thing I have never doubted: You and I take OU football very seriously.
BTW, did you think Motley interfered on the 2-point conversion ? The announcer didn't think so, but it sure looked like it.

I absolutely thought it was interference. This secondary is just not very good. Speed D my eye. Looks like Grinch is in over his head.

Yes I did; I think I put that on one of your other post. I didn't see PI live, but as soon as the replay was shown my wife and I both said that was interference. The replay also showed the TE was wide open on a slugo route. Honestly I was shocked OU stopped them.

A speed D is not getting torched by TEs...not generating turnovers...not putting consistent pressure on QB. Up 35-14 then curled up like a dead spider. When a win is not a win aptly describes this poor performance. This at a time when we should be in all cylinders....

Correct; I think we peaked the second Saturday in October.

It is almost like defense is an afterthought. Surely we can recruit more effective defensive players but I just don't see it. Riley seems so damned preoccupied with the offense that he must be saying 'Yea, those 11 will do for the defense, now leave me and the offense alone'.

I think ISU is a good football team and plays hard. I did not see the game but listened to it on the radio. I watched some highlights on Youtube. The first half was as good as we could expect. The second half was abysmal. I understand the coaches not wanting to coach out aggressive play but at some point they need to coach in some smart decision making. I would sit Bookie's ass down for games over that Unsportsman Like Conduct penalty.

Finally. This is the first time I have seen this discussed.
I called it when it happened.
Replay at the time confirmed it in my mind.
Haven't looked at my recording for a third look.
But, I was absolutely sure this was possible game-changing PI.
Not the ticky-tacky, let-the players-decide-the game PI.

And, my confidence level in stopping them on a second attempt was not very high.
