Clemson--The Last In Line

I asked this question on the other board. Has a team ever come back the following year and beat the same teams that beat them the year before including the same bowl team. Kinda cool I think.

If the Sooners can keep the intensity up until game time, they roll no doubt

Roll?
Hmmm...... don't know about that. You guys may WIN, but don't think you'll ROLL (implying that you dominate).
I have a little exercise for you.
Go down the list of overall defense rating for each team you've played this year, and compare it to Clemson's overall defense rating. I think you'll be startled.

Remember Clemson's defense LAST year?

I believe you may be surprised at what OUs D would be ranked if we played the exact same schedule as Clemson. I'm not knocking them. I believe they are the other best team left.

Clemson has the seventh best total defense. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/22
OU has the seventh best total offense. http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/21

Clemson hasn't played anyone with the firepower of OU this year.

Comparing opponent defense stats to Clemson is dumb, because those teams already played OU.

Last year? WTF does that have to do with it? These are 2 different teams.

No need for debate. I hear they're going to settle it on the field. May the best team win............ BTW, I was in Governor Haley's office last year and she proudly displays a Clemson helmet on a bookshelf near the exit to the main hall. Of course, she has an SC helmet, as well. I told her that's taking "fair and balanced" to a whole new level.

Haven't etched OU enough to have any sort of feeling toward this game.

The time off I think is a much better thing for Clemson than it is OU.. Two teams moving in different directions towards the end of the year, but CU was able to put enough together on offense to finish the job, they just need to get healthy.

OU had momentum on their side.. Almost a month off will level the playing field a bit in this department.

Should be a great one.. I think it's a field goal type game.

Well if it's a field goal type game, tell us about your kicker....

BTW, do you really have two safeties, one 6'5" and the other 6'3" tall? I read this somewhere.....

My point was that, if you play teams that have weak defenses, it naturally helps make a good offense (which OU definitely has) look even better than it really is. OUs opponents have, in general, had statistically poor defenses.

Conversely, if you play predominantly teams that have good defenses, it can reduce your offensive numbers. Clemson's offensive production has been quite good DESPITE playing some very good defenses.

Who knows? You can take apart and slant statistics any way you want to try to prove your point. These are two very good football teams which are actually pretty similar. I actually think EITHER of us would beat Alabama - and if you guys win, I'll actually be pulling for you.

That said, of course, I think this Clemson team is very special. If Watson had been healthy last year, they would have gone 11-1 last year (possibly even 12-0). This team really has NO weaknesses, other than special teams, and even then, field goal kicking is quite good.

I know this: if Clemson wins out, it will be the first team to EVER go 15-0; and the first team to EVER beat 5 top 10 teams on the way to a championship. And I think this team can do that.

And this is my point too. So coming here and spouting stats off doesn't strengthen arguments any, agree?
