WIN FOOTBALL GAMES.
First off, I want to say that I personally support the emphasis on making sure our players stay out of trouble, attend class, and represent the university well. However, Venables’ primary job is to win football games, that's it.
At this point, I believe it’s time for him to shift his focus. While initiatives like SOUL Mission have their merits, they shouldn’t overshadow the primary goal of building a championship football team. His efforts and energy should be directed solely toward creating the best football team possible. Again, I know this opinion might not sit well with everyone, but it’s what needs to happen if he wants to avoid being fired next season...
Take a look at the playoff teams this year (aside from maybe Clemson). Their head coaches prioritize football above all else, not a split focus on football and academics. If Venables wants to focus on academics and mentoring, there’s surely a spot for him at Buchanen Hall - but his job as head coach is to win games.
By refocusing his priorities, I’m confident he can lead OU back to dominance and reclaim our rightful place among college football’s elite. Someone with connections please share this with BV
Always with love - Sooner Born, Sooner Bred, and when I die I will be Sooner Dead.
