Bedlam game thread. OU - osu.

Guys like Pledger are a dime a dozen. After watching Sermon today I wonder what the purpose was of him leaving. He got about the same playing time there as he was getting here. He would probably even gotten a lot more this year.
Not sure, but l think the guy starting ahead of Sermon is a freshman. I suspect Sermon expected to start. He did have a solid day, today. What's the weird name of the starter? I'm laying in bed and too lazy to look it up.

Pledger had good games against Texas (131 yards) and TCU (122 yards) while Stevenson was unavailable, which were huge contributions at the time, if anyone remembers.
Pledger is a good player and adds decent depth. And carrying the ball 7 times for only 18 yards doesn't make him "a dime a dozen" player. Plus, OSU has a good defensive line.
Pledger was available against a great LSU team and didn't chose to get himself suspended....in a suspension (losing Stevenson and Perkins) that torpedoed OU's chances in its two losses this year as far as I'm concerned.
OU will have a really good running back corps if McGowan gets healthy, Major can contribute and with Pledger. The depth behind Stevenson is not as good as it's been historically, but Rattler's quarterbacking makes it less of an issue.
Next year, Stevenson will be very hard to replace. Hopefully, Camar Wheaton (an OU lean) or LJ Johnson (a Texas lean that OU is still in the hunt for) can join the team. We may find out in December.

Good stuff. Pledger carried the team because Stevenson screwed around. His suspension no doubt cost OU two W's.

Yeah Sermon is a mystery to me. Was there a specific reason listed on why he left? Without Brooks in the lineup and Stephenson's suspension, Sermon would have had a ton of carries.

I never heard anything about why he left. I assumed it was because his playing time had diminished. Ironic that its diminished at Ohio State as well. Weird

Mikey Henderson our new secret weapon. Really am impressed. Keep it going Mikey.
I like what Henderson contributes as a receiver and running back and he has a veteran's presence even though he's a true freshman. Riley's recruiting is really starting to make a deference and Grinch's coaching inpact is coming along at a faster pace than I thought.
OSU is a quality opponent and OU dominated them. The one touchdown allowed by the Sooner defense was really impressive.

The thing that is puzzling about Sermon and the timing of his departure is that he was rumored from as early as his freshman year to be considering it because of his dislike of Jay Boulware. Boulware leaves for Texas and one would have thought been happy.

Sermon hails from Georgia so his ties to OU may not have been that strong and I wonder had he been an Oklahoma or Texas kid if it would have made a difference.

Master Teague is a rs sophomore, averaged over 6ypc last season... Sermon would have been the starter with OU with Brooks opting out most likely... who knows how it might have played out?

Teague also tore his Achilles last season, so at the time Trey made his decision, it’d have been pretty easy to assume that Teague would still be in recovery mode for a while. Combine that with the fact that A) tOSU’s leading returning healthy RB got all of 25 carries last season, & B ) Brooks had not yet opted out at that time, it’s not objectively difficult to see why he made the decision to go there. Sooner fandom aside, for purposes of getting better exposure for a shot at a pro career, I’d have done the same thing, again, with the info he had at the time.
