This has been my thoughts throughout this whole ordeal, let me know if im crazy.
The way I see it, if we get Arbuckle he will bring his QB Mateer with him. If another OC is hired, we pretty much are saying we are going to run it back with JA next year (assuming the new OC can convince him to stay).
I cant think of another worthy portal QB who would come here with a new OC and a HC on the hotseat.
Seems like Arbuckle, or year 2 with JA at QB1 are the two options here.
