Oklahoma was in contact with Pittsburg State transfer WR Christian Carter yesterday, pretty immediately after the Lee’s Summit North (Mo.) product hit the portal. He’s already received a number of Power 5 offers, including Texas A&M.
Still working to glean definitive insight on whether the Sooners could finagle numbers in order to make room for Carter; the decision to take Laine Jenkins casts a little bit of doubt in that capacity. But Emmett Jones is actively kicking the tires, if nothing else.
Talked to LSN head coach Jamar Mozee last night about Carter, and the context on him is that he went under-recruited because LSN was forced to play him at quarterback rather than receiver. That didn’t allow for college coaches to see him in his wheelhouse as a prospect, although most everyone in-house at LSN knew the kid was an FBS talent. Mozee was less than shocked to see Carter produce the way he did at Pitt State, and he’s less than shocked to see the kid garnering loads of Power 5 interest in the portal.
Given the relationships between the OU staff and the folks at LSN, it hopefully goes without saying that if the Sooners move here, they’ll be a top contender.
