A once proud program. Be happy OU isn't going though what Tennessee is

The Tennessee job is an excellent opportunity for a capable coach. It's in a great city, in a beautiful area and with a storied football legacy.

If Tenn was serious about winning they would go after Mike Leach. Imagine what he could do with 4-5* talent and unlimited resources.

Leach is talented but he is better off hidden up in Washington state where a lot of the nation is asleep for many of his games. He may be an elite coach up there but too kooky for the likes of Tennessee. LOL.

Their O scheme is from the Lester Miles' School of Trench Warfare.

The series I caught said it all: UTenn fortuitously gets the ball at midfield and desperately needs to make something happen. 1st down is up the gut. 2nd down is up the gut. 3rd down they split the QB out to telegraph a wildcat run, which yet again was up the gut. Time to punt. Painful to watch....

When you fire a HC that won 74% of his games and hire Lane Kiffin to replace him you get what you deserve. I think the Football Gods are still angry at Tennessee over that one. Then came the Derek Dooley Disaster. I don't think Tennessee has recovered from both of those mistakes to this day. Fans were getting tired of Fulmer and wanted a change, be careful what you wish for. Jones has done a better job than Dooley but I don't think he is the guy that gets them over the hump. I see a lot of fans talking today about firing Jones whose buyout is thought to be around 9 million.

Just browsing hawkeyereport (no trolling this season). A lot over there actually think they have a shot of luring BGBS to Ia City... Mike, Maybe; Bob uh NO !

Tenn would be a far better place to be for any HC candidate

I have been laughing at lil piggie fans lately after their meltdown when they lost to aTm and tcu. 2 programs they think they should never lose to. They have been throwing around names to replace Bielema who has a 15.8 million buyout, 15.8 million buyout? He really stuck it to them. Some of the names are, John Gruden lol they thought they could get him before. Bob Stoops lol, Mike Gundy, Les Miles, Nick Saban lol just to name a few. A lot of them want Bobby Petrino back smdh. I think aTm and missori are finding out just like arkie and south carolina did when they joined the sec, they are not nor have ever been National Championship Caliber Programs and just because you are in the sec does not make you an elite program. There is a pecking order in every conference but most fans cannot come to grips with that.

I don't think it was a mistake at all getting rid of Fulmer. Fulmer's glory days were long gone by the time he was fired. It's kinda similar to how Mack Brown left Texas. Won a ton of games, but ended up letting things slip at the end. Fulmer's last 4 years at Tennessee he went 29-21. That's awful for a program he once won a national title with.

You're exactly right. All the Vols were ready for Fulmer to go, and for good reason. It's not uncommon for really good winning coaches to become mediocre after a while. Only a handful or two seem to avoid it. Some that do end up coming back and messing up a good thing. Steve Spurrier is a good example. I hope Bob Stoops keeps his winning percentage where it's at now.

Not so much getting rid of Fulmer but replacing him with Lane Kiffin was my point, Bigly Mistake.

Jones buyout clause would net him between $6 million and $9.2 million. His contract was extended in 2014 and he was given an annual pay raise of $500,000 per year. However, his extension didn't address the buyout clause, hence the $6 to $9.2 million spread.
