I rewatched a bit of the OSU game last night, and for the life of me I don’t understand the 3 man rush. Do you see it at times from other teams and in the NFL, sure, but it’s generally something used to catch a team off guard, not a foundational plan of attack.

I saw the Steelers do it on a few occasions last week out of a 3 man front, but it was on long yardage and that slid Heyward from DE to DT and slid Dupree down to DE. But, nobody sends only their 3 down lineman as often as OU. I can’t recall ever seeing it (probably bc it doesn’t work).

I thought the whole reason of going to this 3 man front was to create pressure from different looks? We know the secondary can’t hold up, we know the 3 down lineman can’t get pressure - soooooooooooooo.........

Call me crazy, but they’ve got to send a LB almost every play. Or better yet, send a S here and there (have we seen a S go all year?). Before anyone mentions Manny Diaz, let me state - sending 4 men is standard stuff here. We’re not talking about the house, we’re talking about 4 guys, every play. Some teams go full years sending at least 4 (Iowa probably hasn’t sent 3 in Ferentzs entire tenure...literally). At a minimum, commit to an attempt at getting pressure. Force some mistakes, make the OL and QB think out there a little.

If they let Grier sit back there clean, they lose that game. No doubt.
