This is going to be inherently negative after what just took place in Ft Worth., but with only 5-6 current roster spots left to fill (give some NFL or spring portal departures), this roster for 2025 is primarily set. Does anyone see 9 wins?
I’m honestly struggling to even find 6 wins, let alone 9. Illinois State, Temple, and Kent State are your gimmes. Michigan in Norman is far from a guaranteed win.
I’m not even going to mention TX because those two programs are currently in different hemispheres.
In conference play you are on the road against TN, Bama, and SC who brings back Sellers. Those are all incredibly difficult places to play.
You have LSU with Nuss to close the year.
Your best chance for SEC wins will be a portal-boosted Auburn team going all-in to save Hugh’s job, then Ole Miss which also looks to be reloading via the portal.
I legitimately could see 5-7 next year. Mateer, Burks, Gibson, and a few decent OL portal additions aren’t saving this offense. Maybe I’ll be proven wrong, but I’m just not seeing it.
Again I’m trying not to be dramatic, but it might be time for the preemptive 2025 HC hotboard.
