I imagine Durant could have won a National Championship in college as a freshman on several college teams. I never could figure out Texas getting
him out of Baltimore. He's taking the easy road to an NBA championship. Worried about his legacy instead of his team. I think less of him but I don't care either way.

I never could figure out Texas getting
him out of Baltimore.

A number of reasons:
1) Rick Barnes was a good recruiter. Many McDonald's All-Americans.
2) He claimed he didn't want to be a follower. He says he wanted to set his own path. I guess he had more courage as a child than he has now.
3) One of the Texas assistant coaches was from Maryland and had connections in the state.
4) One of his father's friends played for Rick Barnes when he was an assistant at George Mason. Another of his father's friends played football at Texas. Both encouraged Durant's father to push him towards Texas.
