Carey said his employees are “throwing a hissy”

about wanting to do the podcast today and he’s not sure he wants to do it today. Then went on to say they aren’t talented enough to do it without him. All on the Animal.

@Eddie_Rado ooooh man he slapped you down like a step child. That’s harsh words coming from PaPa. I appreciate your dedication to the podcast for the customers!

Rebuttal?

First scrimmage is over

As always I wish I had more to give you but am told OU is being very protective this year. With new QB, I think Lincoln knows surprise has some value in it, especially with a first game against a decent opponent.

*The overall tone of the scrimmage I am told was that the defense was better than the offense. But it sounds like there weren't a ton of plays on either side of the ball.

I asked about interceptions, big plays, big runs...

*Told interceptions came late in the scrimmage with 3rd team guys.

*Told Rodney Anderson was the big play guy in the running game today.

*Was told CeeDee Lamb was the best receiver on the field today.

Obviously there was some concern about Neville Gallimore and his start to fall camp when he started out in a boot. He's been back out to practices and he was the first name that one source came up with when I asked about standouts on the defensive side of the ball.

* Kenneth Murray was singled out too as been the heartbeat of this defense.

* I asked about Caleb Kelly and how he looked, just was told he played but no one noticed him separating himself with big plays.

* Offensive line is still figuring it out up front. Was told they are not playing as a unit and look ugly at times.

* Overall I was told that it was super competitive between the offense and defense.

* Finally, I asked one of my sources who he would start after watching both QBs today. His answer?

He'd play both of them.

Sorry I don't have more to report than that. It was a really early scrimmage to avoid the rain and it ended shortly after 10am. Wish I had more individual play to tell you about, but it really sounded like it was a pretty drab scrimmage to watch. Not a lot of flashes on either side.

OT: OU Fraternity Rush

My son will be going through Rush this fall and I couldn’t be more proud that he will be matriculating to OU for his formal education. He just graduated from a private Catholic school in Austin and is very excited about his upcoming years in Norman. My question to my fellow posters on the board is what fraternities are good at OU and what should he try to avoid? I am aware that every fraternity has its strengths and weaknesses, but am at a loss as to which ones are the best to consider. He has a long legacy to DU at Oklahoma dating back to the 1920’s, but I don’t want to push him into one direction. He’s a smart kid and I want him to make his own decisions. Any suggestions on this question would be forever appreciated as I want his time at OU to be most memorable. Thanks, in advance.

Jeffrey Carter Would Have Had a Blast Today

He's going to Texas A&M -- shit school, shit choice, completely foolish.

But if he and his parents would have given OU a chance, they would have had an amazing time today in Norman with the coaching staff, thefellow recruits and the buzz that is Oklahomaright now. They would have gotten to know Riley -- not only the coach -- but the man, and they would have been blown away, especially if they dared to compare him to the other head coaches they've been dealing with.

It's a shame. Oklahoma is going to have a great team this year and even better teams in the very near future. He could have been part of -- maybe even been the key -- in them winning a national championship.

Without knowing his personal feelings, I got the sense Jeffrey wanted to visit today. I think the family was afraid they might get another flat tire and it would make them more tired and a they’d have to return money they’ve already spent..

In the end, Jeffrey probably would have trasferred from OU whether he visited Norman today or not. But he and his family missed out on a great time and a great weekend.

Monday Notes...(UPDATE: 3:08p)

UPDATE: 3:08p - I've had a few conversations that are the potential of some good news coming to the BBQ this weekend, one guy I'm told to keep a close eye on?

Last year's BBQ commitment Jeff Carter of Mansfield (Texas) Legacy.

And yes, I'm told it sounds like Oklahoma is now on board with taking one of the more diverse defensive backs in the 2019 class.

ORIGINAL:
So, you guys miss me?

No?

Well, I don't blame you, bang up job by @BPrzybylo, @Eddie_Rado, and @Carey Murdock last week.

At any rate, I am now tagging back in and wanted to offer some word I am hearing on Rivals100 2020 QB offer Bryce Young.

Almost immediately after today's announcement I got word that there were rumors swirling about a USC pledge.

I have thought the Trojans had a shot since talking to him, and others, in Atlanta so I went ahead and hit up a few sources.

The first response seemed to think I had taken up comedy on my week off - as he has seemed "close" (to committing to Oklahoma) ' as of late.

The more people I talk to the more uncertainty seems to abound but the thing that has stuck in my head is something we have discussed before, the reality that he has a lot of respect for Spencer Rattler and whether that might be enough to give USC an edge.

Honestly I can't help but wonder if Kyler Murray's situation helped get Rattler in early but hindered the pursuit of Young.

I have heard nothing definite but USC is definitely making a run that I wasn't expecting a few months ago.

Why does Kenneth Murray get the freshman pass?

He was out of position often. He took bad angles. He wasn’t a reliable tackler in the open field. He didn’t create turnovers.

How much can you blame on Mike (I blame everything on Mike BTW)?

I am honestly asking, why the love. I just don’t see the potential. To me he looks like a weight room warrior and that’s it.

Someone tell me in football words what you see. Don’t just say, he is a freshman, he will get better.

Safety in the Big12 is very tough but we know early on Tony Jefferson could tackle well. Some people have an instinct to locate the ball and get their, I don’t see it with Murray.

This is the longest stretch Oklahoma has gone without a championship...

This is the longest stretch in program history that the program has ever gone without winning a national championship. Let that sink in.

The longest stretch being 1956 (Bud) to 1974 (Barry) (18 years).

Having missed opportunities in 2003, 2004, 2008, 2016 and 2018. It seems kind of crazy given the career Stoops had from 1999-2017.

Wife is getting induced tomorrow....

so I'll be a daddy by this time tomorrow night.

Lots of emotions. Very different than I thought it would feel. Kinda strange that this evening at dinner I almost felt sick to my stomach and then I felt very indifferent moments later.

I guess in ways, it still doesn't seem real. But I imagine it will feel very real, very soon.

To all you dads out there, major kudos to you all. Pregnancy is a crazy 40 weeks!!!
