OT: Pro Bono Lawyer Assistance Norman area...

My SIL has two young boys and is dealing with their dead beat dad. She needs to take him to court and get parental rights changed/health insurance information so they can get treatment ...he won’t return phone calls/texts/won’t talk to her at all, he won’t give her any insurance information...dude is a real POS. His cousin is his lawyer and does whatever he says...she doesn’t have the $$ to spend on a lawyer.
Any Scoopers have any insight to navigate these waters...know of any lawyers that do this type of work pro bono in the Norman area?
Thanks in advance.

Mini-Sunday notes...

Back-to-back recruiting weekends and just not that much, sorry.

Start with Marcus Hicks, Kori Roberson, Jonathan Perkins and Stacey Wilkins (via Kelvin Hicks):

- Will try to catch up with Perkins. He's been pretty elusive, but we'll certainly attempt to track him down to see how his official went. We'll see Hicks next week (Sept. 20) and we've been in touch with Wilkins and Roberson quite a bit so not really urgent.

(Downs, far left, should end up being one of #OKPreps' top prospects for 2021)

- Caught up with 2021 Weatherford TE/ATH Ethan Downs. Sounds like he had one heck of a time. Downs isn't 6-4, but I don't think that will deter OU from an eventual offer. Downs was at OU's camp in the summer and returned this weekend.

Ethan Downs:

"I had a great time. The game was fun and exciting and my favorite part was pre-game and walking out of the tunnel. We were standing on the sideline and people were yelling, 'Ball!' and my dad got hit in the face from a ball from the pitching machine! He took it like a man though, just stunned him. It was hilarious."

BREAKING: Addison Gumbs leaving OU

UPDATE: Have been told by someone close to the program that Gumbs' family wants him closer to home because his mother is in poor health. I would expect we'll hear all kinds of things as to why this happened. But I hate sitting here saying something like that isn't genuine.

ORIGINAL REPORT: Just confirmed through sources at OU that Gumbs and his family have decided he will leave the OU football program. We had heard some rumblings right before the start of the podcast and I wanted to make sure this wasn't just a kid that was frustrated and telling people he was going to leave before he really sat down and talked it over with the coaches.

After researching it some more, I can confirm the staff is aware and has been told by the Gumbs family that their son will not be returning to OU after he went home following his knee injury.

It sounds like this was a decision made by the family more than the player. Just the feedback I'm getting. Josh can probably update you on the history with Gumbs and his father and how much drama there was getting him to OU in the first place.

But we can confirm, Gumbs is leaving OU even though the coaches did everything they could to convince him to stay.

From OU:

NORMAN— University of Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley announced Wednesday that sophomore defensive end/linebacker Addison Gumbs has decided to transfer due to personal reasons.

Gumbs, from Hayward, Calif., played in four games last year and totaled eight tackles and a pass breakup. He sustained a season-ending injury on Friday.

"Addison did a very nice job while he was here," said Riley, "and we certainly wish him the best."

Postgame Podcast links

I feel like I have to say this with the way the board has been the last 12 hours or so. But the podcast won't be live right after the game. It won't help you to keep asking where is the postgame podcast, where is the postgame podcast. There are several things that have to happen before we even start recording the postgame podcast.

1) The postgame press conferences have to take place.

2) Eddie and Bob have to get their stuff for the site done first and foremost.

3) I have to rush back to the studio to do the Sports Animal locker room show.

4) I have to cut up audio.

5) Eddie and Bob have to get to the studio.

6) We record the podcast for about an hour. So that will put us roughly 4-5 hours after the game is over before we even finish recording.

7) uploading the podcast means even though the game starts at 11:00, the podcast won't be up until evening. It usually takes me a couple of hours once we finish before it is out there for the world to gobble up.

8) During night games, we won't podcast until Sunday. That could change a bit on the road. But we'll have to play that by ear. The entire goal is to have these podcasts up last Sunday night so you have them to download Monday mornings for your commutes to work, etc.

DGFIAP: Good grief...David Boren’s legacy is a dumpster fire..

WTH was he thinking?

Cross Neighborhood offers upperclassmen at the University of Oklahoma a new housing option, but only 28 percent of the 1,230 beds have been filled.

Before he took office July 1, Gallogly announced the university has been losing money every year. Total debt is nearly $1 billion at the Norman campus and debt service costs are almost $70 million a year, he said.
