OU-Georgia home-and-home series coming

OU is about to release this officially. But OU and Georgia are set to announce a home-and-home series and this one will be much sooner than some of the ones announced recently. Like just about 5 years away. More details coming soon.

OFFICIAL RELEASE FROM OU

NORMAN — Continuing a run of recent announcements of home-and-home football series against marquee programs, the University of Oklahoma revealed Monday that it has scheduled its first-ever series with Georgia. The Sooners will host the Bulldogs on Sept. 9, 2023, and will travel to Athens, Ga., for a Sept. 13, 2031, contest.

"We are especially excited about this series because it helps us celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in 2023," said OU Athletics Director and Vice President Joe Castiglione. "Greg McGarity and his staff at Georgia helped us navigate an unusual scheduling circumstance and we are grateful for the diligence and patience. We understand the return game date is later than usual, but very much look forward to taking our program to Athens to play in one of the country's great venues. As we have said on many occasions, we understand our responsibility to college football fans and tradition to play iconic games. We welcome opportunities such as this one that reinforce our brand and celebrate the historically great programs."

A member of the Southeastern Conference, Georgia boasts a strong football tradition with an 819-423-54 (.653) all-time record, two consensus national championships (1942 and 1980), 13 SEC titles, a 31-21-3 (.591) bowl record, two Heisman Trophy winners and 33 consensus All-Americans. It has finished in the top 10 of the final AP poll 23 times.

Oklahoma's series against Georgia will mark just the second and third games between the schools. The Bulldogs edged the Sooners 54-48 in double-overtime at the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl in the 2017 season.

The Sooners also recently announced home-and-home series against Alabama and Clemson. OU will face the Crimson Tide in 2032 (Norman) and 2033 (Tuscaloosa), and the Tigers in 2035 (Clemson) and 2036 (Norman). Other future home-and-home series opponents include LSU, Michigan, Nebraska, Temple and Tennessee.

Over the last 20 years, the Sooners have played non-conference series against accomplished programs such as Alabama, Florida State, Miami (Fla.), Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, UCLA and Washington.

OT: Thoughts on PSA Complete AR15 vs...?

https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa...-nitride-lightweight-m-lok-classic-rifle.html

Complete build, chrome lined barrel, free float, etc at $500 delivered to my hands. Maybe kick in $25-50 for upgraded trigger option. Is there a better alternative for the money for a guy who will not really upgrade anything other than an optic? For the price point anyway. Primary use will be the range, maybe a few action classes and preventing
Venezuela. Thanks in advance.

Drew Sanders notes (kinda)

More like the Brynden Walker post from a couple of weeks ago, kinda summarizing what's what here.

Sanders had been committed to OU since November 2017 to play tight end. The joke was funny about quarterback, but we all know it was for tight end.

Outside linebacker has clearly come into play in recent months, including an unofficial trip to Alabama. OU had to be hoping the official visit for spring game weekend would shut the door, but you never saw an outward or public sign that Sanders was set with Sooners.

Then the next trip to Bama, and here we are.

Been speculated, but yea, we can confirm it's because Sanders wants to play defense. And if you wanna look for a bigger clapback, here ya go from Pete Golding.

So ya get Golding tweeting that just before Sanders goes public. You get Mike Stoops retweeting the Golding tweet.

Again, not much of earth-shattering news for ya, but just to catch people up for all those who haven't been playing along.

We'll let @Josh_M enjoy Avengers, and he'll have more tomorrow. Seeing Avengers on Thursday afternoon myself.

Recruiting thoughts

I know it will get going and Lincoln will get it rolling, but I really thought coming off conference title, playoff appearance, Heisman, new DC, we'd be little hotter right now with recruiting. I know it's known, but damn, Bob and Mike stoops set us back years with this damn trainwreck defense. I have full trust in Lincoln/ grinch and co, but damn. Unfortunately, only way to right the ship is to turn it around.

Ruffin McNeil can’t coach and can’t recruit

Such a moronic decision to not move home to admin. Probably Lincoln’s only really bad decision. I didn’t agree with it but I understand why he kept FUMS for loyalty etc a half season too long.

Ruffin though, good grief he didn’t owe him a darn thing and could have paid him a half a mil to give people hugs.

He has no business being on staff.

Name the Sooner defender you whose play you were satisfied with this year.

I've rewatched several games in the last few days. I guess I had forgotten just how extremely bad they were. (And believe me, I was appalled at how bad they were during the season.) I can't remember seeing a defense that bad in years from any school.

Taking that into consideration, who do you believe (if anyone) had a good year on the defensive side of the ball?
