Arnold a bust! Venables an amateur!

Arnold is a bust. He is terrible on deep balls. Behind receivers, overthrows, into double coverage, etc. Put the back-up in and run RPOs the second half, at least we could get some first downs.

Venables is an amateur. Could have used his last time out to freeze their kicker. Probably never crossed his mind.

Sawchuck better not see the field second half. Where is the “special” freshman RB???

We’re supposed to be much better the second game of the year??? Not seeing it. There are some really good teams on our schedule, we are in serious trouble!

OUI Survivor Pool 2024 - Week 3

An annual Week 2 tradition in the Survivor Pool is an administrative trimming of the herd, as a bunch of pickers who were eager to jump in on Week 1 lose their way and fail to submit a pick. This year was no different, as 23 out of 206 remaining contestants got sent packing just for spacing out. In addition to our administrative cuts, we also had three traditional eliminations. And before we all get a bit cocky and laugh at those already eliminated, let's have a somber moment to consider all the close calls this week. Bama (1 picker) led USF by a single point heading into the 4th, K-State (4) needed some late-game heroics to survive Tulane, the Pokes (1) were completely thrashed by Arkansas but somehow won anyway, Penn State (7) survived a squeaker past Bowling Green, Wisconsin (18) never seemed fully in control of a team whose helmets simply read "yotes". And then, of course, 15 of our contestants were sweating double bullets in Norman, where the Sooner offense rekindled memories of our 2009 and 2001 squads (I'm graciously omitting the 1998 team from the comps). Nothing comes easy.

A fond farewell, and better luck next year, to:

Jammed by the Jayhawks (1) - @Stacey73099
Neutered by Notre Dame (2) - @Sooner Butch , @Terner09
Forgot We Were Doing This (23) - @BayAreaSooner62 , @BonzoBeast78 , @championred , @Chris_Patterson , @Dion hawkins , @GimpChildinBA , @GMofCFB , @Gthuddleston , @JackStack21 , @jenn1144 , @l_caldwell1 , @longest58 , @pioneerman , @Rags29 , @RogueSooner3 , @saba1418 , @SECsooner , @soonerman509 , @SoonerNationRulz , @TuckFexass , @tysonandpapa , @WestAustinSooner , @X2Reload

And so, our original field of 214 has now been thinned to 180. Meanwhile, of 134 FBS squads, we've already gotten rid of more than half of them (73 losers, leaving only 61 undefeateds).

Post your Week 3 picks in the thread below!

Injury Updates?

Who’s in and who’s out for tomorrow? Kind of feels like an all hands on deck situation. I’m sure BV would love to wait until Tennessee for some guys to come back but it doesn’t seem we can afford to do that. It sounds like Nick Anderson might play to me and basically everyone else (Hickman,Taylor, any offensive lineman) probably won’t. I predict Arnold will play much better tomorrow. I would like to see a bit more creativity in the run game. More Barnes.

Mills and Boucard according to TOS

According to them Mills and Boucard communicated with OU prior to committing that they were still going to visit other schools. OU isn’t “thrilled” about their visits to other schools but OU still expects both of them in this class.

Thought this was interesting enough to share, as it seems a lil different than what is being said here. Not saying TOS is definitely right, I know the guys here know their stuff too.

BD & Parker Props

One of the great things about covering HS sports in the DFW is the people you meet. I love it when I see Parker or BD on the sidelines in DFW! Great talking shop with you Parker tonight. Be safe and these guys bust their ass for us. You may not agree with their takes but it’s not for lack of effort that’s for darn sure ✊🏾

Len,

Time to be real

OU lost this game last night 12-9. I know the scoreboard says otherwise but we all know the Houston punt returner never touched that so called fumbled punt. Every replay I have seen shows that.

This team was gifted the win and it is all on the inept offense. They were not sharp vs Temple as most scores came on very short fields thanks to the defense setting them up. Everyone on offense is to blame along with the coaching staff. Arnold doesnt get a pass, OL gets a flat F, and receivers no better than a D. As for Arnold a D is best.

It may come off as a rant but this team is honestly in some serious trouble if this continues no matter how good the D looks thus far. As someone said earlier or maybe somewhere else, the offense is John Blake bad.
