OT: Guitar Thread

Hey guys, hope your weekend is kicking off great! Anybody play or played Guild acoustics? I'm thinking about one but haven't been able to find one locally and was contemplating ordering one from Sweetwater or GC.. Always heard they were fantastic and am trying to diversify but I'm a little scared they are Martin-deuce. Any help would be appreciated. Hope the whiskey's and barley pops are flowing freely, brothers!

Thanks!

OT Thunder Dieng, Poku, J Dub

We've got a an 11-game package with Thunder and sit about 15 rows up from Thunder bench. A few observations from last night's game against the Nets:
1. Dieng is more than a project. I have never seen a guy with that kind of size utterly refuse to finish at the basket the way he does. Soft, soft, marshmallow soft. He can have a guy four inches shorter than him at the bucket and he just will not finish. And really brings nothing else to the table. Not a keeper in my opinion. We are getting too close to being truly competitive. He can be someone else's project.
2. During team timeouts, Poku spends most of his time sulking and pouting. Dude literally acts like a 7th grader who's not getting to play. TERRIBLE body language. Same on him. Go be someone else's project.
3. J Dub is going to be an All-Star. His improvement throughout the year is truly remarkable. He absolutely needs to be one of the pillars on which we build on.
4. Very excited for this team's future. I love the way they play, we've got Chet coming next year, and should be able to add a draft pick or two this year. I really feel like we are finally building the team that the ownership/Presti wanted to have all along, but individual superstar talent like Durant and Westbrook took us in another direction.

I have 1 All Session ticket for this weekend's Softball games @ HOF Stadium in OKC (free)

I've been under the weather this week, so I'm not making the trip up to OKC. Ticket is in Section 10 Row T. That is the section behind home plate. DM me. First person will receive 3 ticket transfers, 1 for each day thru the OU app. I will need your first and last name and either your phone number or email address to transfer thru the app.

PODCAST: New facilities, a Campus Corner dust up and JR Days

Trying a new format this week as Josh, Eddie, George and Carey are in studio and we bring on Bob to talk about his beat of men's hoops and softball. Even though it's mid-week, there has been plenty of news this week. And that's exactly how we like it. George and Carey were at the Board of Regents meeting this week where several coaches either got extensions or raises and OU added to the Athletic Department master plan by approving construction company involvement in the new football operational facility to be built east of the stadium. We talk about what we learned about facilities coming out of the BoR meeting. Basketball is in a win or go home and softball is heating up as they now have a nice win streak building. Josh gives us updates on how things went and continue to go from last weekend's junior day in Norman. And we recap the NFL Combine from the weekend. We also torture George by asking about his family, which puts Eddie on his worst behavior. It's a jam-packed edition of the Unofficial 40 this week.

OT: OU golf (and 1 Arky alum) vs Good Good

I don't know if anyone here watches the Good Good Golf guys but I find them pretty entertaining and good for the growth of the game. They have been posting a lot of videos the last couple of weeks playing Oak Tree in Edmond. Luke Kwon in their group is an OU alum and, as such, good friends with all of the more recent and current members of the OU golf team. They got together to play a 6 v 6 scramble. Check it out if you're interested.

OT: Grill Questions for the Experts

While I'm a huge fan of barbecue, I just have no interest in smoking myself.

At the same time. I love to grill and need up my game. I've considered the green egg, hasty bake and a solid traditional charcoal but I need some thoughts and ideas from the experts on the Scoop.

And this would be more for weekend grilling focused on quality cooking. For the weekday and grilling for the family/kids I have a Weber gas grill. If there is a setup that can do both, I'm all ears. Thanks

Notes From Under Armour

OK guys, going to keep adding to this as the day goes on but wanted to get some initial thoughts down on some buzz of the past few days.

*Perhaps most interestingly was talking to a few Texas reporters who, like me, were a bit surprised that the Sooners and Longhorns were having a junior day on the same day - March 25 - as the two usually cut each other a wide swath.

And the note that they both came away with?

"It sure seems like a lot more are going to Oklahoma than Texas."

**One guy who really is excited about his trip to Norman in a few weeks is Lewisville, Texas 2025 future Rivals100 offensive tackle Michael Fasusi. He's got a lot of respect for the Sooners and talked to me some about his beliefs and wanting a family feel. I'll have a full interview coming up but just in speaking with him he feels like a guy who may fall in love a bit with Brent Venables and co.

He's an outstanding young talent and would be big for Oklahoma or anyone.

***A guy that seems to be trending in a different direction is Daniel Cruz whose only confirmed visits at this point are an unofficial to Texas and an official to Austin as well. He told me - in a SCOOPHD interview that we'll run soon - that he has plans to get back up to Norman and repeatedly said the Sooners 'felt like home' but he's not been up in a while and has been to Texas recently. For him to then get back to Austin before Norman seems something of a red flag.

****I spoke with Kevin Sperry, in another SCOOPHD interview we'll have this week, and kind of put him on the spot on some rumors that even many of you have heard about him making a decision during his March 23 visit to Norman, and I can't say that he was able to refute it all that successfully. It was a big part of my forecast going in for him.

*****A guy that I was just blown away with his performance was Midlothian, Texas Rivals250 wide receiver Bryant Wesco. And in speaking to multiple people there's an overwhelming feeling by many that the Sooners are going to be near impossible to beat.

I'm not sure I'm that far down the road as I think TCU and Malcolm Kelly have impressed him a lot but it feels like most familiar with his recruitment feel that Oklahoma's a very likely eventual choice for him. That's not exactly earth shattering news but it's a sign that not much is changing with the pattern of his recruitment at the moment.

******A name in 2025 that you all need to keep on your radar is Colleyville (Texas) Heritage speed running back Riley Wormley. We'll have more with him soon - again, SCOOPHD - but he kind of snuck in, without much discussion of it, to Norman on March 4 and came away glowing about his relationship. I think it means a lot to him that Demarco Murray has put in so much work for him already prior to him really stepping to the national stage as a recruit.

OU rallies, takes down No. 6 FSU (and Lyons update)

Working on the write-up, but wanted to pass this along.

Update on Grace Lyons?
"It’s nothing serious. It’s just energy-wise. The hope is to see her on the field in some capacity this weekend if things work out that way."
