Denton is an area we recruit and anyone at UNT is obviously in the right area. No reason to overthink this - young and aggressive guy in our backyard:

=======================================================================================
Jordan Davis joined the UNT Football staff in December 2022 as Offensive Coordinator and Wide Receivers coach.

Davis coordinated one of the top offenses in the American and the nation in 2023. Under his leadership, North Texas boasted one of only four offenses nationally during the regular season to include a 3,000-yard passer, a 1,000-yard rusher and a 1,000-yard receiver. UNT finished led the AAC and ranked No. 6 nationally in total offense (495.8), plus ranks of No. 12 in passing offense (304.7) and No. 21 in both rushing offense (191.2) and scoring (34.5).

A native of Arlington, Davis spent seven seasons coaching under Morris at Texas Tech, UIW and Washington State. He played a key role on the Incarnate Word staff as Assistant Head Coach and Wide Receivers coach and was an analyst at Wazzu in 2022.

Davis arrived in Pullman having spent the past the past four seasons at the University of Incarnate Word under Morris. He joined the Cardinals staff in 2018 as the wide receivers coach in 2018 and was promoted to assistant head coach and wide receivers coach in 2020.

During the 2021 season, Davis coached wide receiver Taylor Grimes, who earned multiple All-American honors in 2021 and was named Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year after setting single-season records for receiving yards (1,145) and touchdown receptions (15). The prior season Davis mentored all-conference receiver Robert Ferrell, who led the team in catches (35), yards (474) and six touchdowns, the latter setting a school record in just six games due to the shortened season.

In Davis’ second season with UIW in 2019, the Cardinals won five games and broke numerous program records. Davis guided WR Kam Williams to four consecutive 100-yard receiving games, with a season-best 146 and three touchdowns on six catches against Texas Southern. His four-consecutive 100-yard games rank second in program history, while his three TD catches against TSU tied a program record for a single-game.

Davis was part of a staff that engineered the most successful year in program history, marked by a Southland Conference championship and a berth to the FCS Playoffs. UIW, who was 1-10 overall and 1-7 in SLC action in 2017, had one of the best turnarounds in program history with a 6-4 record (six wins ties the program record).

Davis helped guide UIW to multiple season records, including total offense (5,315), total points (357), and touchdowns (48).

Senior wide receivers Kody Edwards (932 yards) and Phillip Baptiste (905 yards, first team All-SLC) each set records on the outside in 2018. Baptiste broke single season program records in receptions (59), receiving touchdowns (9), and receptions per game (5.36), while Edwards set program bests with five 100-yard receiving outings and 1,389 all-purpose yards. Edwards also broke the program record for career receiving yards (2,353) and receptions (140), and he tied the program record for receiving touchdowns (14).

Prior to UIW, Davis was an offensive graduate assistant at Texas Tech University, where he worked closely with Morris, then the offensive coordinator for the Red Raiders, during the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

In 2017, Davis helped guide TTU to a top-10 national ranking in passing offense. The Red Raiders also ranked 16th in passing offense, averaging 474.6 yards per game, including 333.7 yards through the air. Texas Tech played in the Birmingham Bowl to conclude the 2017 season.

Davis also helped the Red Raiders to a nation-leading 566.6 yards of total offense and 463 passing yards per game in 2016.

Prior to his time as a graduate assistant, Davis played for the Texas Tech for three years. He recorded 43 receptions for 398 yards and two touchdowns for the Red Raiders.

In 2011, Davis played for Southwestern Oklahoma State, where he appeared in 11 games and made 20 receptions for 225 yards with a team-leading three touchdowns.

Davis graduated from Texas Tech with a bachelor’s degree in university studies in 2014 and a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2017.

He is married to the former Lauren Wagner.

Student Led Company OU Wrapped

Hello. I am part of OU Wrapped, a student-led company through the Integrated Business Core Program at the Price College of Business. We’re excited to introduce our exclusive, limited-edition OU-themed wrapping paper! I believe @dmackey13 was a part of it during his time at OU. It is a super cool program and our proceeds go to Among Friends, a center for adults with disabilities and student scholarships. It is perfect for Christmas, holidays, or even a graduation present. We would appreciate it if you bought some and shared it with all of Sooner Nation. Thank you for your consideration.

How early did Brent V know about the OL ?

BV is a proven elite defensive coach by all measures. BV and staff had plenty of time to see in spring practice and subsequesnt scrimmages , how good or bad the OU offense is doing . Especially the OL. Seth's playcalling during the alamo bowl would have been excused for the rookie QB starting, but still producing good yardage.

The OL is this historically bad by all accounts ( both national and local analysts have not seen such a joke of an offensive line) , how come BV missed the warning signs to act on it before this disaster happen ? ? is it lack of judgement or was he under an illusion his defense was just that good during scrimmages?

D Mack’s OC wishlist

This has to be one of the worst lists I’ve ever seen. Stein - okay. Wilson’s offenses have been hot garbage and Coley’s claim to fame is he got to coach an average offense with insane talent, that was carried by one of the best defenses in CFB history.

This is our list? For Oklahoma? What are we doing here other than trying to be different and farm engagement?

First off, I’m really sorry that I don’t know how to get this damn article into this post but the outlet is called OutKick and they have an excellent article up about one player who has been dominating college football throughout October.
As I’ve said on here quite often, TW was by far our best back last year and would be this year as well.
Cannot wait until DeMarco is sent packing, he has been downright awful !!

Hot Take Friday

Here's one for you, Little Bowen is completely outplaying big bro right now. Peyton has lacked in coverage more times than I can count now. He is not playing his best ball at the moment.

I think the Offense can actually find some success this week, how much? I have no idea but I'd at a minimum like to see them get 20+ points. But that's a major longshot.

UPDATE: VICTORY!! A Little Love (60 secs) for a Sooner in Austin?!?

UPDATE: CHARLIE WON!! THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO VOTED! SOONER NATION TAKES THE TITLE!!!

Greetings Sooner Brethren!

(Update: Well done, my Sooner Faithful. Charlie is in the lead. Thank you for those who have voted. Sooner Nation definitely shot him into the lead. You can vote multiple times so would appreciate another vote if you've already done one!)

(Note: when you cast your vote for Charles Burton, please reply below as it will keep the thread bumped for others to see. Thanks again!!)

Shamelessly calling in a favor for those willing to help the son of a fellow Sooner. I also posted this on On3 because, well, why not!?

My son, who plays in the trenches and is bleeds Sooner Crimson, got nominated as the Austin Statesman's athlete of the week for his game last week (here are his highlights from the game). He had 10 tackles, a sack, FF, and his first TD on a Scoop & Score hustle play. We need votes, ladies and gentlemen!

He's up against a bevy of skill players. I have no idea how he got nominated, much less how he's now surging towards first place. But man, it sure would be fun to see a dude from the trenches win an award that always goes to the fast skinny kids! And what's more, how about getting a Sooner's Son to win an award right here on enemy soil?!?

Fire up The Voting Engine, my Sooner Brethren! Spread the word!!

Here's the link to vote: https://www.statesman.com/story/sports/high-school/2024/10/23/texas-boys-athlete-of-the-week-austin-area-high-school-poll/75808021007/

Also, a couple words of instruction because the Captcha mechanism appears to be screwed up:

1) Use the tab key to get to the button where you can enter your Captcha response.
2) You kind of have to fail/guess your way on several entries until it lets you cast the vote. It's annoying, but I think its part of the reason why a kid like Charlie has a chance to win. All the kids at the big schools are just not voting. LOL!
3) When you get to the screen that has either a bunch of lions or a bunch of little hedge-hogs, pick the three pictures of the ones that are lying down. That's what has worked for me.

It'll take a tiny bit of patience and maybe about 60 seconds, tops.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Mike

P.S. If there are any coaches on the board who want a playmaker on the DL who is a humble, hard working kid, please shoot me a DM! Charlie is a 2026 DL/OL. He had to start on OL as a sophomore due to team needs. This year he's getting his shot on defense so he's still very raw but gaining steam with each game. He plays at a small private school and has lettered in both basketball and football since he was a freshman. He's 6'2", 245 lbs and has a wide frame to add a lot of good weight. Pretty quick, but not laser-time-fast. Long arms for his height. We have been entirely focused on just playing good football, so maybe late to the recruiting game. We don't care about NIL. Just trusting the Lord with the process and and praying for the right fit relationally, academically, and of course with a legit shot to hit the field before he graduates. Charlie wants to stay in football as a career so he studies film voraciously. I think he fits the definition of a true "coach's player." Not flashy. The kind of kid who will contribute well to a hard-working, humble football culture.
