It’s 2024…

And we are lucky we don’t play Vanderbilt because we would get our ass beat. Think about hearing that a few short years ago.

The fact that people are “excited” about the “progress” in the first half shows how far this program has fallen. We scored 14 points in the first half. We used to score 28 points per quarter.

I watch programs like Indiana and Vanderbilt. How are these teams, which apparently play with inferior talent, able to move the ball and play competitive, disciplined football?

I wanted Brent to be the guy, but I’m not sure he can recover from this disaster of a season. Could anyone have scripted a worse start in the SEC? We are so far from the top.

Ten Thgts...RRS

I have to admit after about a quarter and a half of that game I started to drink as I had seen enough to really see the outcome. We have ZERO offensive identity. We have zero offensive swagger. We have zero offensive direction. You can't tell me that half of our starters can't go to another school and start for another program. We are not the least talented team in America or the SEC (maybe 😬). We have 4 star recruits/players at every wr position even though our top 5 wrs are out. ALL OF THEM.

I held out hope due to the changes at OC, the oline injuries, the wr injuries and then the switch at qb. Auburn left a ray of hope, but even they shot themselves in the foot with the game pretty much in hand. Texas is NOT an amazing Texas team. They're good and well coached, but they were out of our league yesterday...or better stated, we were not in theirs.

I'll be honest, this won't be my most technical assessment as I didn't watch with the eye I typically would. Losing this game sucks. I had a 3 team parlay and won a few grand yesterday in Tahoe, but I still had a crappy day because we lost. (I never bet on us).

Apologies in order...

JJF is doing exactly what I expected SL would do.
The offense we're running should look semi familiar for two reasons.

1. We're running very similar concepts to what Ole Miss is running today. From formation to blocking assignments lots of identical concepts. Ole Miss has more wrinkles, but the bones are the same

2. Wait for it...
Hes running Leach's quick came and I love it. I honestly dont know why SL wasn't doing much. 10 getting the 6 to 8 yard "sit routes" is Leach's triangle concept where presnap you stretch one defender and throw where he isn't. Easy reads and throws.

We have a compentent offense. Now we'll see if we value the ball.

Buy the best OLine NIL money can buy!

It’s all this team needs. It can be done. We don’t have to buy a whole new team. New young competent social media savvy OC. Buy the best transfers and recruits money can buy on the Oline, and we are a playoff contending team next year! We need to quit whining and poney up the $ to do it! If not, we will be the Nebraska of the SEC.

No One Should Be Surprised…

…at today’s result. This year’s team is this year’s team. Unfortunately we won’t know if the challenge is injuries or coaching until next season.

There is one thing IMHO that is painfully clear right now however: Vanderbilt…yes, Vanderbilt, is a better football team and program RIGHT NOW than the mighty Oklahoma Sooners. This dynamic existing in Venebles’ 3rd season can’t be allowed to be acceptable culturally with the university’s decision-makers. Ever.

I do have confidence, albeit waning, in BV, but If this ship isn’t turned around immediately next season IMO it’s time to move on..

Today was always going to be tough

Showed offensive life in the first half....we moved the ball.......some in the second half but couldn't finish.

Penalties on O and a very mediocre OL caught up with us...we aren't far from being a good SEC team but we HAVE to invest in the OL. That should be our focus in the portal for sure.

I wanted to see positive signs on O today.....saw that. Hopefully we can build on it.
