Football No policy changes for Venables regarding recruiting visits

It takes some reading between the lines, but it's clear BV has a message for Michael Fasusi (and anyone else) regarding continued visits.

Venables press conference

In his lates press conference he was asked about the OC search and specifically Dan Mullens. This is what he said below.

Later, Venables was asked directly about former Florida and Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen and if the job was Mullen's if he wanted it.

"I'm not going to comment about the details of the search," Venables said. "I reached out to him a year ago."

Makes me wonder now if SL was his only option at that point.

Mullen at Florida

I knew he was good at Florida, but not THIS good.

Buddy went:
2018: 10-3 (Won Peach Bowl)
2019: 11-2 (Won Orange Bowl)
2020: 8-4 (L Cotton Bowl to OU)
2021: 5-6

If bro wants to come be an OC here, this is a no brainer to be honest. Would be good for BV to learn from him too.

I am switching my fancast from Arbuckle to Daniel Roderick Mullen.

Please don’t bring Arbuckle

Riley 2.0 - Can’t make 2nd half adjustments against garbage teams:

TTU – 10 2nd half points

Wash – 6 2nd half points

Boise – 14 2nd half points (7 in the last minute when they were down 45-17)

Fresno State – 9 2nd half points

Hawaii – 21 2nd half points

SDSU – 14 2nd half points

Utah St – 28 2nd half points

New Mexico – 7 2nd half points

Football Venables hopes offensive coordinator hire is 'sooner rather than later'

Venables gave an update on the OC search on Tuesday, and was even asked specifically about Dan Mullen's involvement.

I remember the King just lost to USC in 1982…

Dropping OU’s record to 0-2 and his record to 90-15-3. He had 2 nattys, had won or shared every Big 8 title of his career except in 1981, had the highest win percentage in the country, was 11-6-1 against Nebraska and Texas, and there was real talk that he was getting fired unless he turned things around the rest of the year.

That is crazy to think about now. But at the same time it shows how much our standards have fallen.

Drumm and Thune

Thanks for the job you guys do. It's thankless at times, you get sh1t on, people think you are not being truthful at times, your take doesn't jive with theirs so you're wrong. You can't burn a source, I get it.
You report what you can and what you know, so thanks. There are times that are active, times with no info and some in between.
We used to talk this stuff in college but now you get to for a living . That's awesome.
Don't listen to the haters.

What needs to happen...?

To get back to "Oklahoma" football.

It has been nothing but bad news lately.

Injuries have been terrible, and very little good news on people returning and making a difference.

Gameplan hasn't been impressive against anyone. (Outside of maybe the first half against Ole Miss, and then completely fell apart.)

Recruiting has been lackluster as of late, and doesn't seem like we're showing urgency in spending to fix things.. Unless we're holding out the lump sum to crash the portal.
(TE, DL, LB.. doesn't seem like we've attacked trying to fill holes here, and we're losing recruiting battles on 3 stars. Feels like we either don't have the money, or we're about to attack the portal ala Ole Miss. Hopefully the latter...)

Discipline on the field, and simple fundamentals have been lacking.

Nothing but bad news after bad news on all fronts. Is this really a HC problem, or do we think a great OC hire and some position coach changes fix things?
