Dabo Swinney vs. Brent Venables in 2024?

It's been rumored for years that the only job Dabo Swinney would leave Clemson for was Alabama, and now that job is open. Nick Saban is retiring after 17 seasons with the Crimson Tide, and during that time he won:

• Six national titles
• Nine SEC titles
• 10 SEC West titles
• 201 games (29 losses)
• 117 conference games (18 losses)

Will Dabo go home to Tuscaloosa or will it be someone else at the controls when the Tide come to Norman in November?

I don’t know how Parker and Brandon do it

I see so many people on here making threads and asking the same questions sometimes just hours apart everyday.

Guys, I promise if they had an update on a player or a coach they would post it.

And please take the 5 seconds to scroll the board and see if there’s a thread on a topic before creating a new one. There most likely is.

You guys would’ve made me quit my first week if I worked at OUI. Shout out to them. Idk how they do it honestly.

Hey everyone,

Just got a text from Christian Jones. He's visiting Nebraska on Jan 20 and Oklahoma on Jan 27. Jones is still deciding on other visits. I asked him what he's looking forward to about the OU visit:

"Looking forward to seeing what OU has to offer and explore them more."

Another update on the Erhunmwunse recruitment (Mon 10:40pm)

- Here's a fresh update on the recruitment that changes like Oklahoma's weather: Following discussions with additional sources today, further insights have emerged. At present, it appears that Providence is the frontrunner to secure the services of Oswin Erhunmwunse. In contrast to my report last night, it now seems that Oklahoma is not entirely ruled out of the competition. One notable advantage the Friars can offer Oswin, unavailable at Oklahoma, is a "guaranteed" starting position. On the other hand, Oklahoma seems to be the school in which Erhunmwunse has the best relationships. However, neither of those factors is the most important factor in this recruitment. Regarding that factor, Providence is #1 and Georgia Tech is #2. Let me make it clear, Oklahoma put together a very good package. Said package is comparable to what high-level transfers are getting. It is just unclear whether Oklahoma will elect to go to the extent to which Providence and Georgia Tech are going. I’d expect an announcement this week. Despite the fluid dynamics, Oklahoma remains actively involved.

OUI Survivor Pool???? What where the final results?

Just checking in @SlicedBread. What were the final results? Sorry if I missed the post, I did try searching.

Sounded like if Washington made it past Texas it was down to KLSparks and StlSooner.

Did Michigan taking them out in the Title game have any impact?

Thanks again for coordinating this in 2023. Great job. This was my first year to actually sign up and play it. Had a blast. Look forward to 2024.

Update on Big Time Recruit OU is Pursuing

If you ever (for the rest of time) are curious about where things stand with the big time recruit or portal offer OU is chasing as their decision approaches, just re-read a screenshot of this:

OU is the clear leader, IF it were up to the player himself and if the decision was based solely on his relationships with the OU coaches and his future teammates. The player also knows that OU gives him the best chance of developing into a high NFL draft pick. Whether or not the player is ready to face the challenges and demands at OU, we'll know very soon.

Unfortunately, there are some elements close to the player who are more concerned about short-term NIL money, and OU is too principled to disrupt the locker room by getting into an undignified bidding war. Also, if OU really wanted to, they definitely have the NIL money available.

Even if the player is coerced by the rouge insiders around him to choose Big NIL Money School X, don't count OU out in the long-term!

Did I miss anything??

How Did You Become a Sooner Fan?

Many of you went to OU but some of us did not (Abilene Christian), so how did you become a Sooner fan?

Me? I was working for a law firm in Oklahoma City. My boss was a big alum and donated quite a bit. He had great seats near the 40 yard line. He also had a girlfriend that his wife did not know about. He would go spend the day with his gal pal while the wife thought he was at the game. Someone made the comment to his wife that his seats were always empty. He offered me the seats week after week so they would be occupied. I started going with a buddy and over a two year period got to enjoy the games at no cost to me. This was the 80's.

I was long gone by the time the old boss and the wife split. My new boss was also a huge donor and was able to offer great seats to his staff if you wanted to pay the cost of the tickets. So, for the next three years, I again had great seats while not having to pay anything other than the cost of the tickets. Then I moved to Austin. Spent the next 20 years working two blocks from UT campus.
