Credit to John Hoover for getting a Norman PD PIO on record discussing the investigation. Right now there is still not a police report. The information that is out there is likely from police logs that is kind of dispatch's notes from officers in the field. So that would be why the information was sort of disjointed.
What I can tell you is that multiple sources have told us two of the three suspects are football players. And one of the players at the scene who is considered a suspect was bleeding and said they had been hit in the head with a gun. Not shot. Just hit by the object that is a gun. He refused medical attention. And we can confirm that same suspect was the one who was interviewed and released. But this is still an open investigation. Both football players remain suspects in a robbery investigation. As I said, usually there is a police report before officers will comment on the details of a case. But it's clear OU is taking the situation seriously as they released this statement:
"We are aware of a matter that may involve OU student-athletes and are monitoring the situation closely," said OU Athletics. "The student-athletes in question have been suspended pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation. We have no other information to share at this time."
We'll just continue to wait for details in a police report and whether or not any charges are filed.
We're not releasing names unless charges are filed, or they are publicly released in the police report.

The only thing we can tell you is we are checking on these rumors that are out there. I was contacted about a potential criminal situation regarding OU football players this morning. We've been doing all our checking, we've heard this, we've heard that, but this is a very serious situation. We aren't going to get into speculation on this. We'll just say we are working to verify what is and is not fact about these rumors and until we have something solid, We don't comment on these types of situations. Commenting or speculating on these types of matters is not only journalistically wrong, it could lead to legal issues.
Just wanted to let you guys know when we know something concrete about rumors, we will tell you immediately. Right now there is no paperwork or public information available that we have uncovered that verifies any rumor out there. But that could easily change throughout the day.
