*** Pulled over driving back from Tulsa to type up. So this is what I have heard from a few sources today on the scrimmage:
***Was told that the defense once again looked good. They started the scrimmage with two straight 3-and-outs.
*** That’s not to say that the offense didn’t play well, because we were also told that TE Bauer Sharp made a huge and very athletic play, with a source stating, “Sharp hurdled a dude at the 10-yard line and scored a TD!”
*** WR Deion Burks and WR Jayden Gibson BOTH “made some acrobatic catches.”
*** “DL played well again. They got some penetration and caused some issues. Jayden Jackson made a really nice TFL. Great play.”
*** A name that seams to be coming up more and more is DT Davon Sears. A source told us that Sears “put in some really good work today in the scrimmage.”
*** Erik McCarty and Eli Bowen with INT’s today, with McCarty's pick coming on a deflected pass from Hawkins.
*** “QB1 (Jackson Arnold) and Mike Hawkins look really good when they have time. Hawkins continues to impress. Arnold dropped dropped a toe-tapping dime to [Deion] Burks on one of his passes.”
*** Emeka Megwa had a 50-yard run for a TD.
*** In a situational spot, CB Kani Walker had a big 3rd and long PBU.
***General Booty led a big offensive drive for a TD as well.
*** Dasan McCullough, Kip Lewis and Lewis Carter “balled out today on defense.” All three made some nice plays and tackles, we are told.
*** Again, another source said “OL up and down. Gotta get more consistent. Can tell they are trying to mesh and there’s lots of newness.”
*** An issue that was shocking to hear, but was told this the other day as well, was that snaps have been part of the issues since [Troy] Everett went out. There is a lot of confidence it will get more and more ironed out, but that’s something to monitor.
*** Kicker Tyler Keltner hit a big 58-yard FG, we are told. So that is good news, right?🤷🏻♂️
