GENERAL NOTES

• Attendance for Saturday’s game at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium was 84,186, marking OU’s 148th straight sellout of an originally scheduled home game, dating back to the start of the 1999 season. It is the nation’s second-longest current streak.

• Oklahoma is 2-0 for the 82nd time in program history and the 20th time since 2000.

• Oklahoma surrendered just three points through the first seven quarters of the season. The last time OU did not give up a touchdown in its first seven quarters of a season was 1999 (beat Indiana State 49-0 and Baylor 41-10; Baylor’s touchdown came in the fourth quarter).

• This was only the third 28-11 victory in OU history, and the second against SMU. The first 28-11 win vs. SMU came on Sept. 12, 1970 at the Cotton Bowl. The other was on Sept. 14, 1974 at home against Baylor.

• Oklahoma rushed for 189 yards on 47 carries, averaging 4.0 yards per carry. The Sooners have averaged at least 4.0 yards per carry in each of their first two games (averaged 4.5 yards last week).

• The Oklahoma defense had two takeaways tonight (a fumble forced by DB Key Lawrence and recovered by LB Danny Stutsman, and an interception by DB Justin Harrington). The Sooners have three takeaways and no turnovers through two games.

• OU’s 13-play, 94-yard touchdown drive in the second quarter was its longest of the season, and longest TD drive since going 96 yards at West Virginia last season (Nov. 12).

• Eight different receivers caught a pass for Oklahoma tonight. Last week against Arkansas State, 11 different receivers caught a pass.

• OU held SMU to 4 for 16 on third downs (25%) and 2 for 4 on fourth downs (combined 6 for 20). In each of its first two games this season, the Sooners have held opponents at or below 25% on third down conversions (Arkansas State was 2 for 12 [17%]).
