I know Notre Dame is always brought up in conference expansion. And the consensus is they want to remain independent. My question is at what point will they possibly be forced to join if other bigger conferences are formed. I figure there will not be very many power 5 teams that will want to play them in the non conference if they are playing 9-10 conference games. They will be stuck playing the service academies and lower level teams and have a soft schedule. I’m sure there will be a few here and there will play them, but seems like scheduling could get tough for them, and some years seems like they could get stuck with a really weak schedule if they remain independent.
