• Oklahoma outgained West Virginia 371 to 212 in total yardage (8.6 yards per play to 5.6). The Sooners converted 5 of 8 third downs and limited the Mountaineers to a 1-of-8 mark in the first half.

• Oklahoma scored on each of its first five possessions of the game (four touchdowns and one field goal) before punting on its sixth possession. This is the second time this season OU scored on at least each of its first five possessions (first 10 possessions against Arkansas State in the season opener).

• Dillon Gabriel completed 13 of 22 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns and rushed six times for 33 yards and two scores. This is his third career game with multiple rushing touchdowns (all this season).

• Gabriel is only the second quarterback in Oklahoma history to pass for at least 45 touchdowns and rush for at least 15 touchdowns in his OU career (has 47 passing TDs and 16 rushing TDs). The other is Baker Mayfield (119 passing TDs and 18 rushing TDs).

• RB Gavin Sawchuk rushed for 107 yards on 13 carries in the first half (8.2 yards per rush). This is his second straight 100-yard rushing game and third of his career (also in Cheez-It Bowl last year). The last Sooner to rush for 100 yards in a first half was Eric Gray at West Virginia last season (had 122 yards on 13 carries in the first half and finished with 211 yards in the game).

• TE Austin Stogner notched his first touchdown reception of the season on a 3-yard play in the second quarter. It was his 10th career receiving touchdown (ninth at Oklahoma). His 34 receiving yards are already a season high (on a season-high-tying three catches).

• WR Nic Anderson registered 94 yards on three receptions in the first half, including a 63-yard catch that was his career long and OU’s longest passing play of the season. This is his fourth game of the season with at least 90 receiving yards.

• WR Jayden Gibson notched his third career touchdown reception (all this season) on a 32-yard play in the second quarter. It was his only catch of the first half.

• LB Danny Stutsman registered a first-half-high seven tackles and two tackles for loss in his return to the starting lineup after missing last week’s game.

• LB Kip Lewis made his second straight start (second of his career) and notched six tackles (one for loss) in the first half.

• Sophomore DB Robert Spears-Jennings made his first career start while sophomore OL Jacob Sexton made his first start of the season, at right tackle (Sexton’s first career start came in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl).
