*** 2025 Denton (TX) Guyer DL Xavier Ukponu is one I had to scratch already due to a family hold up on transportation to the visit. He will be at Florida on July 31st, but he also says he will be in Norman for several games this year and that OU is recruiting hard at the moment, so I don't think it's a huge issue him not being there with the connections he has at OU on the Guyer staff and teammates/former teammates as well.
*** As OUinsider was first to report nearly a week ago, OU will play host to 2024 five-star DE Williams Nwaneri for a few days this week. This was always the plan and something that we had hinted on for a while before Parker was allowed to report it.
A source with knowledge let us know back in early July that, "Williams [Nwaneri] will be in Norman before July is up. That has been in the works for a bit," the source said. "Though, it won't be when others arrive or visit in his class, but (OU) is working with his family and Coach [Jamar] Mozee to make it happen."
That was confirmed by Coach Mozee to Parker when Thune went to Lee Summit North last week. Parker then reported -- what seems to now be hitting national outlets -- that WN moved his visit to Oregon up from September. WN will now visit the Ducks this weekend instead.
Obviously, a visit to Oregon can always be scary for opposing teams of the Ducks, but this visit on its face looks like a 'check the box' type of deal. Still, Parker and I will continue to dig more after everything is over and August rolls around.
As for a decision, a source last week told myself and OUinsder that, "Williams [Nwaneri] and his family will be on vacation that first week of August and that is when final decisions will be made."
The source also thought it might take place later on in the first seven days or so of the month because, "He could announce and just get away once he announced." Though, I don't know if that is still mindset here. What we do know is that a decision is forthcoming and things still feel like it's OU, despite some others thinking UGA and MIzzou are in pole position. The unofficial to OU could really help separate the Sooners here, and we will have more on it as things wind down on his UV to Oklahoma and OV to Oregon.
