Can we really blame the number of new faces and players’ youth?

I really don’t think we can blame our roster make-up for the overall poor performance we’ve seen this season. I understand that we’ve had a bunch of transfers come in and that we have 53 new faces on the roster this season. Someone feel free to correct me on that number.

I don’t think we can attribute the poor play to first-year transfers simply because they’re transfers because those transfers have played college football. They should know what level at which they need to play. Additionally, they were with the program for months and months leading up to the season. It’s not like college football has trades where you could be playing for a team one week and another team the week. The transfers have had plenty of time in the offseason to understand the coaches’ schemes.

I’ve also heard the players’ youth be blamed for the performances we’ve seen on the field. The thing is that these guys really aren’t that young.

Gabriel and Beville: juniors
Gray: senior (he’s actually doing really well)
Marcus Major: junior
Farooq: sophomore (maybe a little young).
Marvin “Drop King” Mims: junior
Stoops: senior (makes me sad to say that actually).
Theo Wease: junior
Brayden Willis: senior
Of the 18 offensive linemen, 10 are juniors and seniors with only 5 freshmen.

On defense,
Isiah Coe: junior
Grimes: junior
Jordan Kelley: senior
Jonah Laulu: senior
Jalen Redmond: junior
Stutsman: sophomore (been tearing it up actually)
Ugwoegbu: senior
Broiles: senior
Jaden Davis: senior
Josh Eaton: junior
D.J. Graham: junior
Justin Harrington: senior
Key Lawrence: junior
Trey Morrison: senior
Woodi Washington: junior
