Lifetime Yankee fan here. As an eight year old in 1952 I watched my first World Series between the Yankees and the Dodgers. I grew up in Oklahoma City during the 50's and the Yankees were the team we got on television most often. Mickey Mantle was my hero. It was only recently that I learned from this boards expert on all things baseball/softball that the only reason my Yankees won the 1996, 1998, 1999, and 2000 World Series is because they were given a favorable strike zone by the umpires. Wow! And all this time I thought they won because of their players. You know- Derek Jeter, Paul Oniel, Scott Brosis, Tino Martinez, Jorge Posada, Andy Petit, and Mariano Rivera. But no it was a conspiracy - the umps were cheating for the Yankees. After 2000 the Yankees won only one more World Series. Why??? Because they chahged the strike zone. Don' t believe any of the baseball analysis of that time who said the Yankees were very good at working the count ultimately resulting in a pitcher throwing a lot of pitches. The result of which is getting tired early. Nope our board expert is certain there was a conspiracy.
